  1. Non-existent USB device is 'connected' ever 3 seconds, won't stop

Windows is giving me an issue with a USB device being 'connected' and 'disconnected' every 3 seconds or so, making the annoying 'bee-diddle-dee' sound every time. At first I thought I had a failing device or something, but after unplugging every single USB device and any other devices connected to my PC, it still makes the noise. When I go into Device Manager, there aren't any new or unknown devices listed, but the lists auto-refreshes every 3 seconds with the new 'connection'. I even tried opening my PC up and disconnecting my front panel USB connections from the motherboard, but no luck.

The only bit of information I can find, is by using the USBDeview utility, which identifies that the problem device is "Port_#5.Hub_#0001" (and i have no idea what that means), and the description is "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)". If I try to disconnect or disable the device, it just reappears in the list and keeps 'connecting'.

The only bit of luck I had was when this originally happened about a week ago, I did a little google fu and found the option to run sfc /scannow from the command prompt, which found some file issues and fixed them, which fixed the problem. Yay! I thought that was that, but today it started happening again. Running sfc /scannow again found no problem files, and didn't fix the issue.

I'm at my wit's end, and can't stand hearing this sound every. three. seconds. any longer. Has anyone seen this issue before, or know some troubleshooting steps I can take to try and figure it out?

  4. Non-existent USB device is 'connected' ever 3 seconds, won't stop

Error Message that USB Device not recognised - repeats every few seconds non-stop!

    Hi,

Some USB devices are built-in on a device, such as webcam and touchpad. A corrupted or outdated driver might affect the performance of your devices and drivers. For us to isolate the issue, please clarify the following:

    • What's the make and model of your device?
    • Have you made any changes prior to the issue?

In the meantime, to troubleshoot your issue, we suggest updating your USB drivers. Refer to this
link for the steps on how to update drivers. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try checking for
one on your device manufacturer's website.

Get back to us with the result.
