Cloning drive crashed source disk now won't boot

    Hello Forum,
Used this as a resource before but haven't found anyone else with this problem.
    Latest win 10 version 2004
When the cable to the SSD was unplugged the source disk crashed and when it was trying to reboot the laptop failed to boot. after trying different solutions (fixboot commands, and othercommon) ....
Using the [diskpart command] I discovered that the C: drive had it's contents and all it's parttions moved from "disk 0" to "disk 1" .... again all on the C: drive.
The laptop was still trying to use "disk 0" so it would never boot.

It's a 3 year old HP Pavilion G17 and I was upgrading the disk from HDD to a SSD for their advantages.

Looking for how to move things back to proper placement.

    Thank you in advance.

    :)

  2. cloneing a drive in windows 10

Hi,I have this question last year, but my os is windows 8.there are my steps of

How to clone drive in winodws

    ,you can check.hope that helps

First,I download a free tool of MiniTool partition wizard and launch it.

Step 1. Connect SSD to Windows 8. Install and launch MiniTool Partition Wizard Free Edition, select the source hard drive and then choose “Copy

Step 2. Select a disk to copy the source disk. Here you are expected to choose the SSD (we choose disk 3).

Note: All the data on SSD will be destroyed, so make sure you have done backup in advance. You are allowed to clone a hard drive to a smaller SSD, as long as it can hold all data in the source disk. You can also clone SSD to larger SSD by using MiniTool
    Partition Wizard Free Edition.

Step 3. Review the changes you are going to make and also change the copy options if necessary.

Step 4. MiniTool Partition Wizard will tell you how to boot from the destination hard drive. So if you are cloning boot drive to SSD, you need to pay attention.

Step 5. When you are lead to the main interface again, you can preview the changes you are going to make from the middle pane. (Here disk 3 has the same disk layout with disk 1.) If you confirm these
changes, you should click “Apply” to make the changes effective. Hope that helps

Changing primary boot partition to a local disk after cloning.

    Hi

I have recently cloned a disk from a workstation onto a blank one for another, new workstation. The source disk is running Windows 10, and there is various software and applications that should be on the new disk along with the operating system. However,
when I insert the disk into the new workstation, it goes through the Windows set up process, as if I had inserted a Windows 10 CD into the disk drive and installed it onto the computer on a blank drive, instead of cloning an existing disk onto it. This means
that it is running a fresh, blank copy of Windows 10, rather than the copy that is running on the source disk, along with the other programs/applications/data.

"My Computer" shows that there are three drives - the C (Windows) drive, the E (DVD) drive, and the F (Local Disk) drive. The C drive and F drive take up roughly the same space, so when looking at both of them it is clear that the disk cloning process created
a new partition, labelling it F, of the Windows on the source disk, rather than installing it straight on the C drive/partition like it usually does (I have cloned different disks in the past and they have all worked as planned).

Is there a way I can assign the F partition to be the boot partition running Windows, possibly replacing the Windows in the C drive? The F drive contains all the usual System32/Users/etc. files.

    Thanks

Cloning drive crashed source disk now won't boot

Bootable Hard drive cloning disk recommendations.

    Hey guys,
I'm looking for a bootable software I can burn on a disk to fully clone a hard drive. I have a 500 GB drive with two partitions and I want to clone both to a 160 GB drive so I can use the 500 in a different computer. I need the 160 to be bootable as it would become the new boot drive in the computer.
