Windows 10: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

Hi, I am getting an interesting issue. Occasionally, seemingly at random, my computer freezes and goes to a bluescreen if I wait long enough. This typically happens at most once a month usually not even that but it recently happened twice within a week. I have gotten this issue luckily only during off hours so during YouTube binges or while playing video games. The stop code is as mentioned in the title: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION. My computer is five years old so issues are expected.


Side note: I used to get the freezing but then sometimes the pc would unfreeze. Now the pc always goes to a bluescreen after about a two minute wait.


My PC specs just in case:

Intel 6700k CPU

NVIDIA GTX 1070 GPU

G.SKILL 16 GB RAM

1 TB SSD

ASUS X99 Motherboard

Blue screen: DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

After a recent updating, my machine has blue screen every 5 - 10 minutes.

The error code is DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

I saw another post here which suggest to use "iastor.sys". But I don't have that in the driver list. Mine is storahci.sys.

The DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION blue screen error can be caused by a variety of hardware, firmware, driver, or software issues. Now, you mentioned that you already changed the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers to standard. Did you update the driver as well? And also,
are you getting the same blue screen error when you play other games? Or is it only occurring when you play a particular game?
