Windows 10: New Drive- H in windows 10 after May 2020 update

Hey,


I have got a new drive letter Disk H in file explorer which is around 98 MB after windows 10 May update. I don't know what's that drive. I tried to remove it by going to disk management. I don't see that drive letter. So, I used diskpart command in PowerShell as an administrator to remove it from file explorer and I did it. It got removed but when I restart my computer or turn it on later, That drive is there again. It's not causing any issue but why is that new drive. I am hoping to get rid of it without having to reinstall windows again.

And, It's not even healthy storage because you can see it's all free of space.

Also, I can't format it either.

Windows 10 Tweaks

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Reinstall Windows 10 to new hard drive

• Are you trying to reinstall Windows 8 or Windows 10?
• If you already upgraded to Windows 10, were you able to create a new copy of the recovery drive?

Problem with h drive.

Hi Maria,

You can use the File Explorer to scan your external thumb drive. To get started, please follow the steps below.

• Open the File Explorer.
• Locate the H drive that you'd like to scan.
• Right-click it and select Properties.
• Go to Tools tab and click Check under
  Error checking section.
