  1. The recent update caused problems to my PC.

After updating a few days ago, there were a couple of changes on my PC.

First big change is that the microphone on my headset is not working properly. Prior to the update it was working perfectly fine but now my voice sounds very far away and muffled, and it fluctuates randomly. I tried adjusting the input settings but there was no noticeable change. The change happened literally right after the update so I honestly can't think of any other reason.

Second change is that some applications were removed from the desktop. Not uninstalled, just gone from the desktop and they run normally when I open it so that's not a big problem but I really want the audio fixed.

How can I either fix the mic, or downgrade my PC to before things went bad?

    Hello Timothy,

To be able to assist you better, let us know a few more details on the below questions.

    1) Did you make any recent changes to the computer?

    • Right click on Taskbar and choose Properties.
    • Select the tab Start Menu.
    • Uncheck both the options for:

If the above does not apply, please follow the below suggested methods and check in case if it is a functionality issue in Windows.

    Method 1

This issue may happen due to system file corruption. I suggest you to run System file checker. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Kindly follow
    the below given steps:

    • Press Windows key + X, select
Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.

    • In Command prompt type
      sfc/scannow
      and press enter.

    • Restart the computer.
