  1. Move Documents off of c:\users\username onto f:\user\username

I want all of the files in c:\users\username moved to f:\users\username but make them referenced by the Microsoft "aliases". So for instance, the Microsoft alias "Documents" would actually exist in f:\users\username instead of c:\users\username documents, etc. I can easily do this in linux, but cannot seem to make it work in Windows. Also, for some reason, in Windows Explorer sometimes the alias is shown as "This PC > Documents". I would also like that alias to point to f:\users\username\documents. I would like this pattern to be consistent across all of the directories folders within c:\user\username.

How can I make this happen. What are the downsides of doing this if it is even possible?

    Thanks,

    Ken

How to change locations of Documents or Pictures to C:\Users\username\Documents or Pictures

In my new computer setup, Windows 10 set up the folders Documents and Pictures under "This PC" to C:\Users\username\OneDrive\Documents and C:\Users\username\OneDrive\Pictures. I want to set up these folders to C:\Users\username\Documents and C:\Users\username\Pictures.
I tried to change location through folder properties\location\restore default. But windows did not allow me to do it, showing an error message "Can't move the folder because there is a folder in the same location that can't be redirected. Access is denied".
How do I change the folders of Documents (Pictures) under "This PC" to
    C:\Users\username\Documents (Pictures)? Thanks.

  3. This PC\Documents does not equal users\username\Documents

Since you are logged in with Hotmail account there is a possibility onedrive is running and backing up your files.

Location for onedrive is usually c:/user/username/onedrive/documents

Location for normal document without onedrive:

    c:/user/username/documents

  4. Move Documents off of c:\users\username onto f:\user\username

    Equivalent of "c:\Users\username"

Folks, I'm still not out of the woods yet. Here's what I typed in (after a few typos), followed by what came out:

    C:\Users\croge>icacls"%userprofile%:\dropbox /grant %username% (f) /T

The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.

    C:\Users\croge>icacls "%userprofile%:\Dropbox" /grant %username%: (F) /T

    Invalid parameter "croge:"

The folder "croge" does exist under Users (I checked) so what next?
