  1. HELP! I copied my user folder to my D drive, and then deleted the original.

As per the title, I have a laptop with two drives, an SSD and a Hard drive. To free space on the SSD(C), I (stupidly) decided that moving the 50ish GB user folder to the D drive via copying, then deleting the origin in the C drive would work.

I successfully copied most of the user folder to the D drive, barring some files such as ntuser.dat. Happy with myself, I then decided to completely delete the user folder in my C drive. The result was a blank desktop, with numerous programs unable to be launched as they had been "moved renamed or deleted", after researching the issue, I realised that what I did was insanely dumb.

What can I do to fix this? I still have the user copy in the D drive if that helps. And I am using the latest version of Windows 10(I updated just after deleting the user folder in the C drive).

  3. How to copy administrator user account

    Hi,

I suggest you to follow the below steps to copy the user date and check if it helps.

Note: I suggest to create a new user profile and transfer user data to new account and delete or change the corrupt user profile.

Copy User Data: Follow the below steps to copy files to the new user profile

    • Log on as a user other than the user whose profile you are copying files to or from.
    • In Windows Explorer, click View, and Check mark hidden files and folders, uncheck the
Hide protected operating system files check box, and then click
      OK
      .
    • Locate the C:\Users\Old Username folder, where
C is the drive on which Windows is installed, and Old Username is the name of the profile you want to copy user data from.
    • Press and hold down the CTRL key while you click each file and subfolder in this folder, except the following files:

    • Ntuser.dat

    • Ntuser.dat.log

    • Ntuser.ini
    • On the Edit menu, click
      Copy
      .
    • Locate the C:\Users\New Username folder, where
C is the drive on which Windows is installed, and New Username is the name of the user profile that you created in the "Create a New User Profile" section.
    • On the Edit menu, click
      Paste
      .
    • Log off the computer, and then log on as the new user.

Keep us informed if the issue is resolved. We are glad to help you further.

  4. HELP! I copied my user folder to my D drive, and then deleted the original.

0 byte folder cannot be deleted Problem

    I have a 0 byte folder and I can't delete it. I'm using win 7 64 bit.
    please help *Cry

It says access denied when trying, please login as admin blah blah msgs....

I've searched the net for hours, Trying unlocker, fileassassin, and all other 'file deleter' programs out there. tried on safe mode, tried the cmd commands, even in cmd it says access denied, tried the closing explorer.exe and doing the command. I tried changing permissions and atrributes and it says you do not have permission to view or edit this objects permission settings. I logged in as the Administrator and still no hope.

the folder originally contained all my movies but since then i moved(using the move command) all of them someplace else(on another hdd) and I thought it was gone but the folder is still there, 0 bytes. It was shared when i deleted it and still appeared on the shared folders list but inaccessible coz it was already deleted so i 'unshared' the folder from the shared folders list. and so the problem began. the folder is still there and it is undeletable

One surefire way to do it without deleting my files is copying all other files to another HDD and reformat it and copy it back again but my hdd is currently contains 1 tb out of 1.36 and i dont have any hdds with that free space to use.

ALSO I CAN'T OPEN THE FOLDER it says

    Location is not available

    'directory' is not accessible.
    Access is Denied.

i think its more of a windows glitch than a virus problem

help??? *Frown HELP! I copied my user folder to my D drive, and then deleted the original. :(
