Windows 10: Word in Win365 is slow to non-responsive

I have noticed in past 1-2 weeks that Word has often been slow/non-responding when attempting to open document. I've been running Windows 365 for several months, and this slow-down has been a recent development.


Today Word took so long to open about 2 minutes that I did a Restart to try to correct problem, but it is still showing a frequest "non-responsive" status.


I'm using a Dell Inspiron 5000 series laptop purchased in 2016. I've checked laptop operation and have not found any hardware error codes.


I'd appreciate any suggestions for improving Word performance.

As per your query, I suggest you to Run Maintenance task

The Run maintenance task checks issues that might slow down your computer's, such as how many users are currently logged on to the computer and whether multiple programs are running at the same time.

Follow the below steps.

  Press Windows + X on the keyboard.
  
• 
  Select Control Panel.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Click on Run maintenance task under
  System and Security.
  
• 
  Follow on screen instruction.
