  1. Logitech Gaming Controller Drivers Query?

I have recently bought and installed the Logitech G X56 H.O.T.A.S. controller to my Windows 10 Home version 2004 OS 19041.572 desktop PC. This was a replacement to my previous Thrustmaster one. Prior to installing it I uninstalled and deleted all the Thrustmaster entries, downloaded the latest drivers from the Logitech site and followed the installation instructions. All went well and after opening my game of Elite Dangerous I set up my ingame binds file and it all worked well from the off.

In my research prior to buying the X56 I had come across several owners/users who had suffered weird ghosting issues for which the cure for some was to install a powered USB 3.0 hub unit connected from a USB 3.0 slot on the back of my desktop unit and then connect the throttle and stick to that, so I did all that before adding the X56. For the next few weeks I played my game without any complaint until one night a week or so ago suddenly it seemed as if my controls were being operated by someone else. Lights going on and off, screens changing etc. I realised this must be the ghosting issue others had experienced and indeed after signing out of my game rebooting my PC and recalibrating the X56 in the Logitech controls all has been well since.

While checking something out yesterday I noticed that in Device manager under Human Interface Devices there were a list of options for the X56 throttle and stick all with the latest Logitech drivers which I had downloaded from the Logitech site pre X56 installation. However lower down the list was an entry called Logitech WinUsb devices and on checking found that the drivers installed here for both stick and throttle were older Windows drivers from 2012. I tried to update these but got the "best drivers for this device are installed" message.

Now I just left it all as is, as my game is running okay and the controls are working as I set them but now I am unsure which drivers are actually being used here the Logitech X56 specific ones or the Windows 2012 ones and whether this might have some impact on the ghosting experienced by myself and others and is there a way to update the 2012 drivers to the Logitech ones?.

    :)

    Game controller ID settings

    Hi Joe,

Thank you for the update. I understand your concern.

I would suggest you to look for the Devices settings in Control Panel and check if the game controllers are listed. If so, refer to the following steps to alter the settings and check if these are helpful in resolving your issue.

    a. Right click on one of your game controllers and click Game Controller Settings. Note where in the list it is. If it is not at the top proceed to the next step.

    b. Right click and remove all your other controllers (not the 360/gamepad) and let them reinstall automatically.

    c. Once complete right click and check the list again and see if the 360 controller/gamepad is at the top. If so, give the game another try and see if it detects your controller.

If the issue still persists, restart your console and then try to reconnect your controller.

Hope this information is helpful. Please post back your results for further assistance.
