Windows 10: CORTANA BAR SHOWING "TYPE HERE TO SEARCH" BUT NOT "ASK ME ANYTHING".

HELLO,


I just bought a new laptop with win 10 and came to know about cortana. While i was watching its tutorials on youtube, I saw that in the search bar, they have got "ASK ME ANYTHING" written there.... but in mine one, there is "TYPE HERE TO SEARCH" wriiten and when i click on it, it just open a normal search box and not cortana... please guide me further on how to fix this issue cause i am really in need of a voice assistant, thanks in advance!

If you meant the Cortana search bar, review the suggested solutions on these threads:

• Can't type in Windows 10 search bar.
• Can't type anything in Win 10 Apps (Cortana, Search, Calculator, Feedback, etc.)

Cortana bar showing "Type here to search" instead of "Ask me anything"

My cortana bar now stays with "Type here to search" instead of "Ask me anything", even when not focused on the bar.

Is this normal or is this a bug?

PS: I'm running Windows 10 1703 Creator's Update.

We understand that you are unable to type in Cortana Search bar after a Windows Update. However, please reply with the details requested below:

• When you say, “unable to enter any text into the Cortana Search bar” what happens when you try to type something in the text bar?
  
• May I know which update was installed on the computer? To check go to
  Start >> Settings >> Update & Security >> Windows Update >> View update history.
  
• Which build version of Windows is installed on the computer? To check press
  Windows key + R, type winver and click on
  OK.
  

We would like to inform that with the latest update of Windows 10 i.e. Windows 10 1903, Cortana and Search bar are decoupled. Now, if you wish to speak with Cortana, you can click on the Cortana icon on the search bar and start talking. However, you
can still use the Search bar to type in a command.
