  1. Windows activation screwed my computer up, help please!

So my mobo fried due to an electrical storm and I got a new one. Installed new chipset and Ethernet drivers. Windows then needs to reactivate. It prompts me to login to my windows account, I do. Then it says that "request is denied" with a long code underneath. I try to reboot. Here's where the bullshit starts.

Background info My main account on my PC is not my microsoft account. It's (not the real words but just examples) "home" and the password is space bar. It's set up this way because all the rooms in my house are connected to the main PC and stream content from it.

So now once I reboot it asks me to sign in to my microsoft account, which it has never done before, "S1AYERZER0@microsoft.com". It's always been "home". So I sign in, and there's no internet. I check device manager and there is no Ethernet card anymore. Keep in mind the internet was functioning perfectly fine before this reactivation. I try to reinstall the driver for the Ethernet and it says there is no Ethernet card found.

So I can't connect online, I have no Ethernet controller, and it's making me sign in to microsoft instead of "home" and because of this none of the other content devices in the house are working. Any help?

  2. Outlook, Windows update screwed my computer

    Hi Bennie,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused to you. I’ll certainly help you with this.

    • When you set up the account, did you create a local account or Microsoft account?
    • What is the exact error message you get when you try to login?

I suggest you to check if you have activated two step verification for your account. If yes, I suggest you to turn it off and check.

How to use two-step verification with your Microsoft account

Also check if the Windows Update was successfully installed on your computer.

    • Press Windows Key + I and click on Update and Security.
    • Under Windows Update tab, click on Advanced options
    • Click on View update history and check if the update is installed properly.

Keep us posted with the status of the issue to assist you further.

    Thank you.

  4. Windows activation screwed my computer up, help please!

Taskbar bug: switching to another window -will not appear at the front

Follow either of these steps to fix the issue with the Active window hiding behind.

    Method 1:
I suggest you to disable window by hovering over it with the mouse and check if it helps. To do so I suggest you to try the below given steps and check if it helps:

    1. Press Windows key + X key and click on Control Panel.
    2. Select or click Ease of Access.
    3. Click or tap onEase of Access Centre.
    4. Click on Make the Mouse Easier to Use was uncheck Activate Window by hovering over it with the mouse.
    5. Check if issue is resolved.
    Method 2:
I would suggest you to completely uninstall the touchpad driver and reinstall it. Kindly follow the below given steps.

    1. Press “Windows key + X” and click on “Device Manager”.
    2. In the list of devices, you should see the touchpad drivers.
    3. Right click on the device and then select "Uninstall".
    4. In the uninstall dialog, make sure you select the option to delete the driver package from the system. This causes the driver package installed earlier to be deleted.
    5. In the Action menu of Device manager, select “Scan for Hardware changes” option. This will cause the device driver to be reinstalled. Once the driver is installed, close all windows and restart the computer.
