  1. How do I stop MS Edge from opening a new tab every time I click on a link

When I am in a web page and click on a link, I stay on the tab I was originally in, but a separate new tab opens up with the link.

This never used to happen - you used to click on a link and you went straight to that page. In IE Explorer, it was possible to decide whether links opened in the same or a new page.

I end up with 20-30 tabs all open, and they are so small, I can't tell which is which - it is a real nuisance. Help please?

    :)

Edge not opening links in new tab

Hello. I was using Edge over the last couple of months or so and had no problems with it. However, just recently (last couple of weeks) Edge has started to behave very differently indeed.

First off, when I click on a link on Edge's home page (news, sport, etc) it opens the link in a completely new window, rather than a new tab, which is what it was doing before. I haven't changed any settings that I can think of, so why all of a sudden has
this started happening? It's annoying. How can I get it back to opening links in a new tab?

Secondly, Edge's start page keeps getting stuck in this infinite loop, where the page just refreshes over and over again. It's like someone is leaning on the F5 key. The only way to stop it from happening is to close it down and open it again. Why is this
    happening?

Edge was quite cool at first but is rapidly becoming an annoyance. It wastes so much of my time. Please, can someone offer any suggestions that can help me with these problems?

    Thanks.

Edge not opening links in new tab

Both suggestions just open the link in a new window.

The only way I can open a link in a new tab is by right-clicking on the link and selecting the option, but I never had to do this before. It's only recently that Edge has started doing this. Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me?

I prefer my links to open in a new tab; there's very little point in opening them in a whole new window as things soon get messy.

    Thanks.
