  1. Bridging networks in VMware Pro 16

So basically what I want to do is to have 2 internet connections available, 1st one being for example my mobile network connection, and second one my cable network connection that is connected to my router. I want the mobile network to be connected on the PC, and cable (router) network to be connected on the VMware, I know I have to bridge them or something but I'm not sure how can I get it working, should I change network priority in my PC settings so that whenever mobile network is available, it shows up first, or something like that?

Check out my reddit thread as well: question about using 2 networks simultaneously : vmware

    :)

Network bridge suddenly stopped working in windows 10

    Hi Shantanu,

To isolate your concern, we would like to know how your network bridge is connected? Is it a wireless connection or a wired connection?

In the meantime, we suggest that you set up your network bridge to refresh the adapter and reconnect the other devices. To do this, follow the steps below:

    • Add Incoming Connections from the Internet.
    • Bridge the two network connections that you want to use.
    • Forget the internal network connection (under
      Manage Known Networks).
    • Reconnect to your bridge network.
    • Restart your computer and check if your concern persists.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

  3. VMWare help; bridged networking

someone on the vmware forums ended up knowing what was wrong after looking at some output. I had the default setting for what nic to use for the bridged network which was eth0. It needed to be bond0.

Bridging networks in VMware Pro 16

Unable to connect internet in bridge mode in vmware

    Configure Networks in Workstation

I would suggest you configure additional networks in VMware's Workstation the following way:

    1. Open "Edit" -> "Virtual Network Editor"
    2. Click on "Change Settings"
    3. Click "Yes" on UAC
    4. Click "Add Network"
    5. Select free VMnet network to be created
    6. When new network is added select it
    7. Select "Bridged (connect VMs directly to the external network)"
    8. Select under "Bridged to" your netowrk adapter which you have connected your host to your network
    9. Repeat steps 4 to 8 until you have created Bridged networks for all of your hosts NICs

    Configure your VM NICs setting

Go to "Settings" of your VM and change the Network adapter setting "Network Connection" to "Custom: Specific virtual network" and try with each of the newly created networks if the VM will pick up an IP.

I have found out that the setting to "Bridged: Connected directly to the physical network" in the VM settings, does not always work, as this setting should automatically detect which hosts NIC to use.

With the above creation you can work around that limitation.
Only thing to remember is to change the VM's NIC settings if you move you host's connection. Eg, moving from Wired to WiFi or from Home to Work.

    NOTE!

If none of the networks at work will provide you an IP then your company's network is using some authentication protocol on the network which can prohibit IP assignment.
