All MicroSD Cards give the error message 'Remove the write-protection or use another disk.'

Whenever I try to add or remove files from a MicroSD card on Windows 10 Home, I get the error message 'Remove the write-protection or use another disk.' The drives logical drives are formatted as FAT.

This is not the result of a bad MicroSD card, this occurs with all MicroSD cards and these cards both read and write on external hardware SCSI2SD on a hardware sampler.

I can however write to it if I plug it into my old brick phone, run a Micro USB cable from the brick to the PC and write indirectly via the phone.

The drives logical drives are formatted as FAT.

    Attempted solutions:

Formatting the card using the default Windows formatting tool.

Formatting the card using the default Windows formatting tool on another machine.

Using DiskPart to clear the write protect attribute.

Third party tools to remove the write protect.

Using both a USB card reader and the integrated SD reader slot in my machine.

Adding the following variable to the registry:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies\

Created DWORD WriteProtect and set the value to 0.

Any help would be most appreciated, this is driving me up the wall.

    Many thanks!

  2. Write protected MicroSD card

After upgrading my 640 XL to Mobile 10 10586.218 from the previous Build, my MicroSD card seemed to become locked and/or write protected.

I noticed this, when apps weren't updating properly in the Windows store after the OS upgrade, backed up the files on my card to my computer, and have tried to format numerous times in my phone, only for it to time out, essentially not do anything.

I removed the card, placed it in a USB MicroSD card reader (came with my Lexar 128GB Card), and have tried using diskpart to remove the write protection, even though it states its successful, but when I try to delete the partition on the card, or try to
format it, it gives a read only error.

Also tried using MicroSD to SD converter, with the write protect switch off.

Any thing can be read from the card, but nothing will write, any suggestions on formatting or deleting the partition on the MicroSD card?

I tried all action suggested by googling.

    DISKPART log looks like:

  4. All MicroSD Cards give the error message 'Remove the write-protection or use another disk.'

How to "Remove the write-protection or use another disk"?

    Hello,

I used a MicroSD Card and tried to transfer files, and all I'd get is a Windows pop-up saying, "Remove the write-protection or use another disk." I tried it on two different computers and same thing happened on both PCs.

Please help me by explaining (with as much detail as possible) how to remove the write-protection from my MicroSD Card. Also, please explain it to me as if I were six years old; I'm not very knowledgeable about computers.

    Thank you very much.

    Sincerely,

    Scott Fulkerson
