  1. Adware opens new chrome tab on windows 10 startup

Everytime I opened my PC in the last few days, Chrome would start on its own, opening a new tab with ads.

I tried to look on [Task Manager>startup], and the Windows startup folder for any links/shortcuts, but nothing.

Chrome settings appear to be clean. I also did a safety scan in Chrome and then using Windows Defender a scan on my PC, to find nothing.

Today, I finally had enough and tried to trace the trigger using Process Monitor, and found out that the culprit was non other than Mr.explorer.exe with a command execution reading: "C:\Program Files x86\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --single-argument http://exinariuminix.info/".

I don't really have the knowledge to trace WHAT triggers this command line, so I have included a snapshot so maybe people can see. Now there's a lot of stuff that's not included in the snapshot, but I assume that whatever triggers it ought to be close to the command execution.

I'd appreciate any insights or guidance as to how to go about with this.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Chrome tabs in startup list?

I have a clean Windows installation with a new X Hero motherboard and I have found startup to be very slow (25.8 seconds) I have noticed in Task Manager that Chrome is in the Startup list with 19 instances. This surely is the slow boot cause..

My question is why has Chrome made it's way to startup and what are the 19 instances? I am assuming that this is somehow initiated with a clean Chrome installation. I also have a Chrome icon in the app tray (Let Google Chrome run in the background)
