  1. Where Do I Get Started With Windows, as a Linux Main?

    Hi,

For most of my life, I have not used Windows in a serious capacity. I'd maybe just go on the browser etc.. When I did try back in 2017, I, well, failed miserably. Granted, I ws pretty young and it was on a really weak netbook that frankly had no business running Windows but I couldn't even install python. Windows just... didn't make much sense to me past a rudimentary level.

When I switched to mac and especially linux later, things just sorta clicked with me. I learned how to be proficient iwth them really really quickly and I became very immersed within them. I guess Unix just made more sense to me.

I returned to Windows on another machine a few months ago, and I've mostly done the same things - just open up the apps I really need and not tried much else. Nothing past a rudimentary level once again.

But I am going to have to learn eventually. I don't see Windows as a terrible evil OS that I must avoid at all costs (at least not on a practical level) but at some point I need to learn it. I want to make the best use of it and understand it as well. It is the OS 90% of people are using after all.

Where do I get started with it all though? In particular I'd like to learn Powershell and see if I can retain a CLI-GUI hybrid workflow if possible, the same way I do with Linux, and how to develop and use it in the professional environment I will likely end up in when I join the workforce.

Machine I'm working with is 2010 Toshiba Satellite p845-s4200 with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3317U CPU @ 1.70GHz with 6 GB of RAM, runs Windows 10 Pro. It's performed fine enough, enough for my purposes of running a VM of ubuntu 16.04 for a competition im doing. I do not have another machine I can run it on anyways so I gotta work with it.

Guide: How to enable, use, and configure SLI on Linux.

I guess the next logical step would be to report on the performance you can get with SLI in Linux. That'd be my suggestion anyway.

    Linux. Start here!

You're right, but why to list Mac OS X while Linux with KDE/Gnome is so similar to it? Well, almost.. BSDs aren't listed either, even they are pretty similar to Linuxes too.

In my opinion, it almost exactly same to learn Linux in real Linux or Mac OS... But of course it's better to learn Linux in Linux *Wink Where Do I Get Started With Windows, as a Linux Main? ;)
