Windows 10: Windows 10 20H2 October 2020 switch to old login procedure

Hello all !!! :

Before to ask my question, I want to mention: I don't like Windows HELLO and I disabled it.


The latest Windows 10 update introduced a different login procedure.

Right now, you HAVE to click a link under the username with your mouse, then, you have to wait until the Microsoft authentication form is presented to you, then, you can enter your password. I suppose this is because the authentication is now always happening online if you are connected to the internet and your local account is connected with a Microsoft account.

This happens also if you are already authenticated but you need to login again maybe because you switched user or because a screensaver kicked in and the settings to go back to login screen after is selected.


For me, this is really annoying because it results in a huge waste of time !!


Is it possible to go back to the previous login procedure?


Before, if you were already logged in, you could just hit the enter/return key and input your password to access again to your Desktop. I do appreciate that there was an online check also before to see if the offline cache of the registered password for the user was changed, but the waste of time that result from the "new" login procedure is tedious.

Current status as of October 20, 2020
Windows 10, version 20H2 is available for users with devices running Windows 10, versions 1903 and higher who manually seek to “Check for updates” via Windows Update. The recommended servicing status is Semi-Annual Channel.

I doubt it is a glitch. I suspect it was designed that way.

Windows 10 20H2 is in the last phase of testing i.e. Release preview channel. As the name suggests, it would be available this month hopefully.
