  1. Firefox and Chrome require parents' permission to use, despite me not being a child account

Hi, I have a strange problem. My account used to be a child account of my father's, although no parental restrictions were applied. Since turning 18, my account was removed from his. However, when I attempt to launch specifically Firefox or Chrome Not any other browsers or programs it requires me to "email my parents for permission", and when I click the button, it gives me an error no code, just "something went wrong", presumably because I have no registered parent to get the email of.

Microsoft Support suggested I create a local user and just use that, but as this is a workstation computer, that isn't exactly, practical.

What is wrong and how do I fix it? Thanks.

    :)

  2. Google Chrome asking for Parental Permissions when accessing

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I understand that you are facing issues when using Google Chrome on your PC as it keeps asking for permission from parent.

Ideally, you get this error if you were previously added into Family Group as a Child account and then Google Chrome was restricted from being used.

Let’s try a couple of troubleshooting steps and see if that helps in fixing the issue.

    Method 1:

Try re-installing Google Chrome on your PC. Refer the below articles to re-install Google Chrome on your PC.

    Method 2:

Create a new user account and then login with the same Microsoft Account and see if you face the same issue. Kindly follow the steps mentioned below to convert Microsoft Account to Local Account.

    1. Press Windows + S to open Search
    2. Now type Your account info
    3. Click on Sign in with a local account instead
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Once you move to a local account create a new user account and sign in with your Microsoft Account and then see if you receive the same error. Refer the article

Create a local user or administrator account in Windows 10

In addition, you can also try providing the parental consent for your Account and see if that helps. Refer the section
How do I provide consent for a child account? and sub-section
I'm an adult but I'm being asked for parental consent. What do I do?
    from the article

Parental consent and Microsoft child accounts

Let us know how it goes.

Cannot run Google Chrome on Child account, needs permission.

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

This issue occurs when you logged in to Windows using Child account.

Below are few of the troubleshooting you can try that will help you with this issue.

    Method 1:

    1. When you open Chrome, you will find an option to take permission.
    2. Click on Ask by Email.
    3. That will send an email to your parents account and you can give the permission from the parents account to use the application.

    Method 2:

If you want your account to be removed from family account, you can login to your parent account and

Remove members from your family group.

If you still face the issue, reply to this post with more information.

    Hope it helps.

Firefox and Chrome require parents' permission to use, despite me not being a child account

Unable to access Chrome and Firefox on the child account error: need parent permissions.

My son was using his PC this morning/early afternoon and all apps were working fine. They have been for some time. Without changing any restrictions or anything, all of a sudden he cannot open Chrome or Firefox. He is given a message saying he needs permission
from a parent and an option to email me. I followed the link in my email to allow permission and thought "OK that's done." But when he tried again, he got the same message. We have now tried this about a dozen times and it will not work. He cannot use Chrome,
he cannot use Firefox. This is pretty much one of the only reasons/apps we got his computer for. I have gone to family settings and can see nothing that should be preventing him from using these browsers (and anyway I did not change settings and they were
working fine before). So what are we supposed to do now???
