  1. Issues with windows in a new pc build. Unresponsive machine, mouse will move and apps...

    Hi,

Wondering if anyone can help me here. I just built a new computer recently 3/4 weeks ago, which has worked flawlessy with the exception of this annoying issue. As far as i know, i have all drivers up to date and 0 viruses as i have kapersky installed and ive done a full sweep.

This has happened around 5 times now in the past week and a half, and since i use this machine for working from home, this is a bit of an issue.

For some reason my pc will stealthily go into this unresponsive state where the only things i can seemingly do are move the mouse around the screen and minimize and re-show apps that i already have open by clicking on their icons in the taskbar. I cant do anything inside the apps though. Not a thing in any of them. I cant kill any app by right clicking its icon as it wont let me right click it...nor can I kill the app in task manager. Inside task manager it shows all my processes as using 0% of the CPU and they cant be interacted with at all.

    I cant ctr-alt-del at all.

I can open the settings section of windows seemingly the only app i can open once this whole thing begins, however every section within it is blank to me. Just a black box under the section title.

Finally. My fan speeds and temps dont seemingly change at all throughout this and i cant turn off or restart the machine from within windows home button...I can only do it from holding down the case button.

Restarting seems to clear the problem completely and i can resume working, however this issue just comes back again randomly within 1-3 days.

Sorry for the waffle. If anyone knows what the issue is or has any advice, that would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

    :)

Unresponsive Mouse and Keyboard in Windows 10

    Hi,

One reason why your mouse and keyboard is not working is because of an outdated driver. We suggest that you update the mouse and keyboard driver by following the steps below:

    • Pres Windows+X key on your keyboard.
    • Select Device Manager.
    • Locate the mouse and keyboard drivers, right click, then click on Update.

If you need further assistance, don't hesitate to reach out.

    Unresponsive Mouse

The mouse appears to be a Compaq 505131-001 UAE-96 Mouse, it is several years old (2012) released for W7, there does not appear to be any specific drivers available for this mouse, it is also listed as a HP
    505131-001 UAE-96.

It was standard issue mouse for various HP/Compact PC devices, suggest check HP/Compaq website a see if a recent driver is available.

Mouse Without Borders Windows 10 Issue - "Mouse Disappearing"

    • When you say that "try to use two or more windows 10 machines together; the mouse pointer will disappear", are you connected to domain network? How exactly the computers are connected?
    • No, the currently upgraded Windows 10 pc's are all local machines connected through a router, but they are not on our domain currently. The reason being is to test any issues that might occur before putting them on our domain.

    2. When you say that "purpose of the software", which software are you referring to?

    • The software I am referring to is Mouse Without Borders. It's in the title of the subject line of my question.

Your suggestion to run the troubleshooter would not register there being a problem considering everything is functioning fine except for the visibility of the mouse.

This is a common problem with Mouse Without Borders dating back to the release of Windows 10. I just thought it would have been fixed by now. A google search will verify my info.

I will reword my situation a bit. For example, I have three Windows 10 machines hooked up to router. These three computers are connected together through Mouse Without Borders to 1 mouse and 1 keyboard. This works fine with our windows 7 machines. The issue
is when we upgraded these test pc's to Windows 10, the mouse will disappear on 2 out of the 3 pc. The primary machine that the mouse and keyboard is hooked up to you can see perfectly fine because the peripherals are hooked up to that specific pc.

Now, the mouse is working on all the windows 10 pc's, but it is not visible to the human eye on any other pc that isn't the primary pc with the mouse/keyboard hooked up to it. The only solution that people have come up with involving a quick google search
is to hook up a physical mouse to every pc. This actually does fix the issue which means this is just a minor software glitch with Mouse Without Borders. It could be something in Windows 10 settings that is causing the mouse to disappear on the other computers,
but no fix has been found to my knowledge. I don't want to have to hook up a mouse to every pc using Mouse Without Borders on Windows 10. I'd revert the machines back to Windows 7 before I did that.
