In case you're wondering why I don't want the realtek audio drivers, it's because I use a program called Equalizer APO. This software is known to be buggy with the realtek drivers, and it flat out will not function at all. I have no issues with Microsoft's other generic HD audio drivers and would rather use those. The problem is that I cannot make Windows default to those drivers. I've been at this for a few days now (this issue happened after I updated to version 2004) and I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of them, but they always keep coming back.

    The methods I've tried:

    • Device Manager uninstall with checkbox to delete - didn't work, in fact I only saw the checkbox once, after 'checking' it I don't get the option for it anymore.
    • Updating in Device Manager and switching to the other driver - doesn't work, keeps realtek installed even after restarting.
    • Device Installation Settings switched to 'No' to prevent auto-downloads - doesn't seem to work.
    • Used Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) which has an option for uninstalling realtek audio drivers - this method does work for a while, but Windows will eventually reinstall the realtek ones again.

I have tried these methods multiple times and Windows seems to be completely ignoring the fact that I set auto-downloads to 'No', and they were supposedly deleted in Device Manager. They still have to be hidden away on my system somewhere, and if they are, knowing their location would be useful so I can try deleting them that way. I would go in regedit too but I have very minimal knowledge of that and don't want to mess anything up. I have reached my technical limit here, can someone help me please?

I had the realtek error when using the installer, so I did these step and It Worked

    1.Go Open up device manager
    2. Go under sound, video, and game controllers
    3. Find Realtek High Definition Audio
    4. Right click and hit update driver
    5. Browse my computer for driver software
    6. Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer
    7. Click Have Disk and hit browse
    8. Click on the Realtek HD Audio mod folder and look for win64
    9. Click on the HDXRT4 and click ok,
    10. Click Next and Yes
After it is done, restart the PC

You should be good then and also make sure before doing these steps that you have driver enforcement disabled.
