  2. Windows 10 - Nvidia GeForce - Update needed but Program doesn't open (Nvidia GeForce Experience)

    Hi Barbara,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I can understand, how frustrating it can be, when things don’t work as expected.

I'd be glad to help you.

Please answer the query, mentioned below:

    • What is the error code or error message?
I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the Nvidia GeForce graphic card
driver from the manufacturer website and check, if it works. Refer to the following steps to uninstall the
Nvidia GeForce graphic card driver from the Device Manager.

    a. Click on Windows key + X key and then, select Device Manager.

    b. Locate and expand “Display Adaptor” in the Device Manager Window.

    c. Right-click on the “Display Adaptor” and click on “uninstall" the
    Nvidia GeForce graphic card driver.

    d. Restart the computer and check, if it works.

Hope this information helps you. Kindly post back with the updated issue for further assistance.

  3. Windows 10 - Video_TDR_Failure (NVLDDMKM.SYS) - NVIDIA 920M

    I recently purchased this laptop:

    Model: Dell Inspiron 5558

    Processor: Core i7 5500U

    Memory: 16 GB RAM

Hard drive: Samsung 2 TB HDD

Graphics Cards: Intel HD Graphics 5500

NVIDIA GeForce 920M (this one has the problem)

The laptop was running Windows 7 fine and everything was just okay.

I upgraded the system to Windows 10 and the problem started.

Before Windows installs the graphics card driver everything works smooth, I can update, I can use the system well.

When Windows installed the graphics card driver there was an immediate crash and the system rebooted. Not long after the reboot finished and the Windows started again, there was another crash and reboot. It kept like this.

So I searched the web hoping I could find something useful, everything said "update the driver". So I assumed that's the problem, I went to Dell Drivers website and entered the service tag and chosen Windows 10 64-bit, I found a driver for the card there
    and installed it. NOTHING changed.

Then, I assumed that Dell did not put the latest driver on their website. So I went to NVIDIA GeForce driver download page and searched for GeForce 920M. I found couple of driver versions, so I downloaded the latest version and installed it. Then the problem
even extended, the Windows stopped showing anything on boot except black screen and after 3-5 minutes it gives a DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION crash. I was unable to even start Windows, so I entered the safe mode and disabled the driver to run Windows again.

Later on, I performed complete Windows RESET just in case there was some bug somewhere. Finished the reset and tried installing the drivers again, I went back to the driver on Dell website and disabled Windows Automatic Driver update and still no use, it
kept crashing and giving the error Video_TDR_Failure (NVLDDMKM.SYS).

Eventually, I disabled the driver from device manager and now the computer is running only on Intel HD Graphics 5500 driver.

I thought the problem could be from the hardware itself, so I installed Ubuntu 14.04 side by side with Windows 10. I installed the GeForce 920M drivers and tested the card, everything went fine and smooth.

Now, the problem is with Windows 10 not being able to communicate with NVIDIA GeForce 920M.

Is there anyway to solve this? I've tried many driver versions and still have the problem. Do I have to try all the 10 drivers on NVIDIA's website? Or do I have to roll back to Windows 7 if I want to use my graphics card? is it that Microsoft's flagship
operating system cannot meet the requirements to run on my laptop? Seriously?
