Windows 10: Printing a paper to my Brother printer using windows prints portrait on a landscape paper

Windows cant seem to get printing right on my laptop Linux works perfectly fine BTW so not hardware and not printer


Whenever I try to print a document in portrait orientation using windows, it prints out sideways as if the printer is printing to a portrait fed system, however my printer pulls paper in from the long edge landscape orientation however it is windows doing the mess-up as when it prints it is scaled to fit inside the paper with the long edge of the document file on the 8.5 in side short edge so it only uses half the paper in print

When you click on print and you pick your printer then click on Preference or Settings and get a window where you can pick Landscape or Portrait, Paper size, Color and more.

When I print, the print preview appears that the document will use the entire length and width of the page. Although, the printer will the entire document, the printout only appears on half of the available space of the page, so the print is really

small and it is landscape mode not portrait mode. I need my letter documents to appear on a full size sheet of paper, not just on half of the paper. How can I fix this issue?

I'm sorry you're having trouble printing.

It really sounds like your printer has a jam or something blocking the flow of paper through the printer.

If you go to print a document and you hear it printing, but no paper is moving, then it's likely printing directly onto the paper roller inside your printer. This can get quite dirty with printer ink.

I suggest you have a good look inside your paper tray and inside your printer near the roller feed and make sure nothing is stuck there (like a paperclip or anything similar) that is preventing the paper from going in. Also, remove all the paper and realign
it into a neat stack before putting it back into the printer and also make sure there's not too much paper being put in. Try around 10 sheets first and no more and see if it prints then.

You could try turning the printer upside down and see if anything falls out of the printer that shouldn't be there, but please be careful doing this. Only do it if you feel comfortable doing it.

If none of these suggestions work, let me know and we'll try something else.
