Windows 10: Backup Solution/ Software for restoring Windows to a previous state

Hello,Could anyone please recommend a software which can be used to restore Windows to a previous date/ version when it gets messed up due to bad update/ install/ malware.

I do not require a backup solution for images, music, documents, etc. What I want is a software which will only create a system image and can be used to revert the Windows back to Day 5, when Day 6 gets corrupted or compromised.

Till now, I was using System Restore point thinking that Manually created Restore Points won't get Auto Deleted. Unfortunately, they do get deleted when Automatic Restore points are created and landed me in trouble the last time.

Software to backup windows

I suggest Aomei Backupper. It is very simple to use. The free ( standard version) will be fine.

Under the backup Tab, click System backup, then at Step 2 , browse to the location you want to save the backup image. Then click "Start Backup"

Need a Backup Solution

That system works great for backing up files and such. But I need to back up everything. The OS, programs, etc. Is this method still ok to use if I back up everything? Including the C:/Windows directory? How would I restore everything?

I was thinking about some kind of imaging software. I've played around with DriveImage XML in the past and I think it's a viable solution.

Also is there something out there with incremental backups? (only back up what has changed instead of everything) That would be nice.

 

Reliable backup software for Windows 7?

I am looking for a good backup program for Windows 7 Pro (64 bit). I recently upgraded from Windows XP Pro SP3. On that OS, I used HP SimpleSave software for my backups. HP SimpleSave did one full backup the first time I installed it, and after that, it would backup changed files every time my computer was idle for 5 minutes. And as this article notes, "The backup is simply the duplicate of the original files, making restoring very fast and easy." I liked HP SimpleSave's simplicity.

I doubt that HP SimpleSave is natively compatible with Windows 7 -- and even if it is, I'm not even sure where to get it (except from the original external hard drive).

Do you know of good, reliable backup software for Windows 7? I'm particularly looking for software that will backup modified files every time my computer is idle for a certain length of time. Sort of a pseudo-continuous incremental backup or a pseudo-continuous file synchronization, I guess.

I'm looking to backup my personal data files, not the Windows installation. I'd like to be able to specify the particular drives/partitions/directories where those personal data files reside.
