  1. Software protection service has started to try to uninstall drivers for my webcam

While the webcam itself is old Live! Cam Vista IM VF0260 and it's drivers are for Windows Vista, it worked just fine and got me through the pandemic times we still live through. Starting about a week ago, software protection service has started to attempt to uninstall the driver. The uninstall fails because it asks for the camera to be disconnected, but it's quite annoying because every time it runs in the background, a dialog alert window and sound are triggered.

I've isolated the event in event viewer, stopping the service completely is not an option because the office package will not word without it.

I need to "tell" the service to leave that particular driver alone. I don't expect Microsoft expects me to simply replace a perfectly working hardware just because it's drivers are old but don't cause any kind of problems.

    :)

  3. How do you uninstall chipset drivers?

I'm installing a new mobo so I need to uninstall the intel 865g drivers to make way for the P35 drivers.

Can't find any uninstall options in add/remove programs and intel chipset inst listed in driver cleaner.

Any suggestions? *Confused Software protection service has started to try to uninstall drivers for my webcam

    Editing webcam driver/service

I am using my laptop's onboard webcam with this awesome piece of software: Home

I have run into a snag though, as my webcam is limiting it's framerate based on how much light the sensor receives. It's called "automatic exposure" and I can't find a way to turn it off. I have updated my driver to the most recent version, and have fiddled with the registry settings; there are values present within the registry that control automatic exposure and exposure, but changing them does nothing.

Presently, I am trying to find a way to force exposure settings on the webcam somehow. The exposure settings aren't present in the registry until I run the camera driver and hit the "save" button in the camera control panel. I tried editing the values in the registry and then using the "load" button, but the exposure settings dont seem to affect anything. I find it odd that the new driver would add values for settings that don't affect anything.
I figure the service that controls the cam while it's on might have the answers, is there a way to view a service while it is running so I can see what values are affected in real-time? I can modify the service using a hex editor or decompiler, but that doesn't really help me if I don't know what to change.
