    How to extend Disk Volume without converting it to Dynamic Disk?


    So my D drive(Storage Drive, OS is installed on C) has 100 GB of unallocated space which I would like to merge with my main partition that has 831 GB. But when I try to do so using the wizard, it tells me that it will convert it into Dynamic Disk. I really don't want to convert to Dynamic Disk, I had done that before, didn't work as intended and when I tried to convert it back to Basic Disk, the computer wouldn't boot and I had to do a completely fresh install of Windows to fix it. So yeah, definitely don't wanna try that again lol, and I just want one partition. Would be awesome if someone could help me out. Thanks : )

    It would be helpful if you mentioned the things that you have tried to do that failed so that we can skip those steps. You can follow the steps provided in the article:
    How to convert a basic disk to a dynamic disk in Windows 7, to change a basic disk to
    a dynamic one. The instructions are also applicable for Windows 10. You can also check this article:

    Ensure that you create a back up for your system as well.

    Convert Basic Disk into Dynamic Disk

    im out of space on my Driver C (disk 0) which is a dynamic Disk i want to be able to extend the volume by shrinking some space from the disk 1 (basic disk) but the problem is that i am not able to convert disk 1 into a dynamic disk (even though there is
    53.4% of free space in it).

    ive tried several methods i found online but non of them works

    i own a MSI laptop operated by Windows 10

    Accidentally Converted Disk to Dynamic and Cannot boot

    Windows build-in utilities only allow you to convert a blank disk (shown as unallocated space) to basic disk. I have used AOMEI Partition Assistant to convert dynamic disk to basic disk without data loss. in your case, you
    need to make a bootable media with this freeware on another computer. then boot your computer from it to convert dynamic disk to basic disk. it provides two options to convert dynamic disk to basic disk.

    Method 1: Convert a dynamic disk back to basic disk. Safely, directly and time-saving (only take 3-10 seconds) revert a dynamic disk back to basic disk without losing data.

    Method 2: Convert any dynamic volume to a basic partition. Sector by sector clone simple volume, spanned volume, striped volume, mirrored volume and RAID-5 volume from dynamic to basic disk.



    Even though you will not lose the data on the dynamic disk when you use this option to convert the dynamic disk back to a basic disk, be sure to backup any data on the dynamic disk that you wish to keep first just to be safe in case something happens.
    Say a power outage while in the middle of converting the disk.
