Windows 10: slideshow wallpaper causes lag in games

i have a quad monitor setup and plenty of wallpapers and everytime the wallpaper changes it causes a giant lag in games , i have a 5700xt and a 3900x so im pretty sure i have plenty of power for all of those wallpaper changes while playing Guitar hero,RDR2 or valorant

disabling the function isn't an option





any advice would be appreciated

Windows 10 micro shutter or lag during wallpaper slideshow transition

i also had this problem

whenever the wallpaper changes i'm having a micro stutter or lag

but when i saw this post and MaxChen418 pointed out that its using Nvidia when changing the wallpaper or slideshow

this problem only occurs on laptops that has NVIDIA® Optimus™

there is only one solution and plus one if i found out which process that does the wallpaper change or the slideshow

1. install older nvidia driver 359.06 version which can be found here

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/96081/en-us

this should fix all micro stutter or lag on windows 10

cons you would loose performance boost on programs or games that uses directx 10 to 12

probably 5 to 10 FPS

directx 9 is same performance

2. there should be a 2nd one still under nvidia control panel

very similar to the 2nd

under nvidia control panel

Program settings

manually add the program that is being used for wallpaper change or slideshow using the add button

select the preferred graphics processor for this program

choose integrated graphics

this only happens when windows is trying to change wallpaper slideshow

no stutter happening if only my intel HD 3000 is installed

no stuttering when using old nvidia drivers *even my old windows 7/8.1 OEM nvidia driver*

if someone know which process that handles the wallpaper change or slideshow

please let us know

also to #microsoft , #intel and #nvidia to colaborate and fix this issue.
