Windows 10: Windows 10 Update Error, Unable to Restore PC, Multiple issues with older games 0x800f0805

Hi, will get straight to it, from what I have gathered I will give this info/error codes in the hope someone can understand the problem.


Started a week ago, when I bought this PC recently, Windows 10, was unable to launch GTA San Andreas due to a DirectX problem said I needed to install it however amongst the other issues, whenever I install new drivers for .NET, DirectX, etc, the system determines the most up-to-date drivers are installed.


Found tutorials to go to CTRL PANEL > Prog + Features > Turn windows updates ON or OFF --> This is blank for me.


From then I found info about elevated cmd prompts stopping/starting services and services.msc. Tried turning on Windows Module Installer, did not help make the tab above appear and is still blank.


So I figured it's the Windows 10 update. My Settings shows this error whenever I attempt to download the updates present there:0x800f0805

Error code when trying to update PC: 0x8007001F - 0x20006


PC is also notoriously undoing changes made to your PC everytime I attempt to fix/repair/update the system it will say this in the boot up


I assume this is probably due to a corrupted registry or something, and even though initial and then sloppy attempts by me have been made, I hope someone can help fix this.

By now I assume you may know or have some suggestions what this is related to. I have been googling endlessly for the past few days, but I have accepted defeat. I now turn to the forums to hopefully end this nightmare.

Windows Update problem after disc change - Error 0x800f0805

Thank you for the reply. I include my feedback on the issue:

I performed a clean boot according to the steps. On this boot I tried,

• Updating through Windows Update (threw error 0x800f0805)
• Updating through Windows 10 Update Assistant as the link suggested (threw error 0x8007001f).

The last way to fix the “0x800f0805 ” update error is to manually download the update from the Microsoft Update Catalog. Since the error with this code appears mainly on cumulative updates, you should be able to manually download and install the update. ...
You just need to download and install the missing update.

1) Start your computer and log on as an administrator.

2) Click the Start button then select All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click System Restore.

3) In the new window, select "Restore my computer to an earlier time" option and then click Next.

4) Select the most recent system restore point from the "On this list, click a restore point" list, and then click Next.

5) Click Next on the confirmation window.

6) Restarts the computer when the restoration is finished.

Unable to install a game on Windows 10.

• Are you the administrator of the user profile?
• What is the error message/error code you get on trying to install the game on computer?
• Did you check if the game is compatible with the current operating system?

You may be facing the above issue due to the incompatibility of the game software with the current operating system on your computer.

I suggest you to install the game software in Compatibility mode by following the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

Before installing the game in compatibility mode, i suggest you to delete all the game related files present in the system and proceed with the steps below.

Step 1: Compatibility mode runs the program in the current version of Windows using the settings from previous version of Windows.

• Locate and right-click on the game setup file on your PC and click on
  Properties.
• Click on the compatibility tab, check the box
  Run this program in compatibility mode for, select Windows 10 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done,
  restart the computer for the effective changes to take place.

Step 2: You can also follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.

• Press Windows logo key on the keyboard and type
  Run programs made for previous versions of Windows.
• Select the top most search result and follow from step 2 from the article
  Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows
  (Also applies to Windows 10).
