    Windows Flashing Black on startup for 15 - 20 minutes.


    Since a few updates ago, I believe either KB4579311 or KB4578968, I had an issue in which everytime I started up my computer and logged in, Windows would flicker black for a good 15 to 20 minutes before it became usable. I could move and see my cursor at these times but could not click or interact with anything on windows. It was not a display issue or the cursor would no longer be visible, it was definitely Windows breaking.


    After trying different boots and settings, ensuring my updates were at the latest I found two fixes. One was to uninstall the update, which worked up until I was forced to install it. The other required me to go through every service in msconfig and turn them all off and on one by one to find the service causing the flickering.


    I found out that the service causing this issue is "Storage Service". With everything else back on and that one service off, my computer has not had the flicker issue.

    However, after some time, I realised that now windows is unable to install or update my apps, unable to find my drives, and I learnt that this service must be important.


    I now need to have it on, but I can't put up with an unusable 20 minute flickering on startup.


    How do I fix this service so it no longer breaks?

    Windows 7 low on memory during 20 minutes after startup!

    Since a few months I have suddely a problem with my Windows 7 desktop:

    During the first 15-20 minutes after startup it is having all kinds of low memeory problems:

    • error messages "Your computer is low on memory. Close programs....
    • browser windows crashing
    • applications closing themselves down
    After these 1-20 minutes, the problem disappears.

    Any idea what is going wrong?

    Explorer works for 15-20 minutes and then disconnects.

    After installing windows 10 on my desktop, Internet explorer works for about 15-20 minutes (I'm connected broadband) and then disconnects me. Keeps telling me to check cable & network connections. There is no problem with the WIFI as I can use tablet and
    other WIFI devices. I reboot computer to be able to re-connect to internet. But again after 15-20 minutes it disconnects me again.

    can anyone help?
