Windows 10: Screen darkens considerably when viewing a dark page

My screen darkens considerably when viewing a dark image or web page, all elements darken, images and user interface. As soon as I navigate to a brighter page, the brightness fades back up again. This has been happening since March 2020.


Windows 10 Home x64

AMD Radeon R9 200 / HD 7900 Series [Display adapter]
Hanns.G HW191 [Monitor]


This is a desktop, not a laptop.

I’ve tried another monitor, same results.

I’ve uninstalled and updated graphics drivers and updated Windows.

Graphics drivers are up to date and the GPU benchmarks okay and shows no on screen glitches


It doesn’t have adaptive display: there are no settings for it in Windows.

There is no adaptive brightness on any power display settings, even on advanced mode.

There don’t appear to be any settings for it on the monitor either unless I'm missing something, but it didn't do this before March.

There are also no settings for adaptive display in the graphics card software.

There are no on board Intel graphics settings I can access, the machine has an AMD Radeon card.

Registry entries for adaptive brightness do not exist.


How can the display be adapting to ambient light levels when it does doesn’t have this ability?

Dark Screen and Windows 10 Update - Where is the Fix??

Hello,

Each time you send a Windows 10 update to my computer the screen becomes dark. Since this apparently occurs on a regular basis why doesn't Microsoft send a fix along with the update? I have tried each of the suggested remedies and none have corrected
the dark screen. Typically, to use my computer without wasting an inordinate amount of time I must delete each update that is a non-security update. Why should I be required to become a computer technician to repair a repeated error such as this. Please
fix my dark screen or take my computr off of the automatic update list. I have work to accomplish and am unable to do so because of your Windows 10 update that has darkened my screen. Are you unable to send a fix after you have sent the update or to at least
post a fix on your website? My time is just as valuable as Microsoft and my tolerance is limited. Please send me a fix immrfisyrly for the dark screen that your Windows 10 update caused apparently last evening. Thank you.

Nokia2630 screen darkens after 15 seconds,is it normal?

Dear All,

The screen of my newly purchased Nokia 2630 darkens after about 15 seconds, I can see that the cahracters are still there but they are difficult to read.

This makes it e.g. difficult to read a phone number or some other info. If I want the screen to become bright again I have to push any button which has for result that I come onto another screen or the action associated to that button is done. I tought that
I could keep the screen lighting on by setting the sleepmode OFf and the energy saving stand OFF but this doesn't help. there seems to be no menu item available where this screen darkening time can be made longer.

My questions :

1)is it normal that the screen goes dark after a short period ?

2)If yes Can I lengthen the period before the screen goes dark. Setting screensaver time out longer doesn't help.

3)What's the use of havin a screensaver on e.g. the analog clock if you can't hardly see it because thescreen darkens after 15 seconds.

MS Edge darken search bar

I have a little problem with Microsoft edge and the start menu. The search bar or the title bar is too dark. It is impossible to see what I'm writing or read the title bar. For the start menu, the live tile are also darken but I can see the icons. Can
anyone give me a suggestion how to solve that.
