  1. Desktop PIP for multiple monitors?

    Greetings

I have recently purchased myself a lovely panasonic 55" TV, and through the magic of drilling holes in my walls, I have connected it via a very long HDMI cable to my desktop PC.

The idea is that I want to be able to get a bit of couch-based console gaming but via my PC. Also because my computer is my bluray player.

Anywho - while windows gladly recognized the third monitor and just extended my desktop upon it, then it is really difficult to actually... do anything with it... because my wireless mouse can't reach the computer when i'm in my living room, so actually starting a bluray, moving the player to the third monitor and then maximizing it... is surprisingly difficult and annoying.

Now, I've already experimented with having win10 simply clone monitor 1's output to monitor 3 (The tv) - but then for some reason it wont let me have HDR graphics anymore, and I paid a lot of money for my 4K graphics. I want it as good as possible.

So... what I'm thinking: Picture in picture, but for desktop? Like, can I get a small PIP window on monitor 2 so I can track what I'm doing on my TV? Is there such a feature in Win10 by default, or do I need to dabble in third-party software for that?

    Please advice

    virtual desktop as multiple monitor

    Hello Dan,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

Virtual desktops lets you create multiple, separate desktops that each can display different open windows and apps. Multiple desktops are great for quickly switching desktops. The idea of having multiple virtual desktops is being able to order programs
according to a set of tasks.

PC can’t have different virtual desktop on each monitor. However, we can
configure the taskbar for multiple displays to send windows from one monitor to another. We can customize Windows to have a taskbar shown on only one display, and a different taskbar on the other display. To do that, follow the below mentioned
    steps.

    • Right click on the taskbar and select
      Taskbar Settings
      .
    • Scroll down to Multiple displays section and choose
Taskbar where window is open under Show taskbar buttons on option.

By choosing that particular option in Settings, you can set its independent taskbar in addition to your primary display. Only the open windows are shown on the taskbar in that particular display.

As a workaround, we can create a new profile to switch your main display to another. By doing that, you can switch between profiles which will be having different displays in it.
To do that, follow the below mentioned steps.

    • Right click anywhere on the desktop and select Graphics properties > Select
Display > make changes to change your main displays > click on
      Save profile
      > assign a name to it.
    • You can create multiple profiles to make different monitors as main displays each time.
    • To apply the profile, right click anywhere on the
desktop and select Graphics Options > Profiles > in there you can select the new account which you have created to switch the display.

    Hope it helps.

    Multiple Desktops on Multiple Monitors

    Hi everyone,

I have multiple (virtual) desktops and I am extending my screen to an external monitor. However, when I change my desktop to a different one, it also changes the desktop on my second monitor. How can I keep my second (extended) monitor to a fixed desktop
and change desktops on my primary monitor?

    Thanks,

    Junaid

  4. Desktop PIP for multiple monitors?

    Multiple Desktops on Multiple Monitors

So you have multiple extended displays and each one hosts a desktop. If you want something to stay in view when you switch desktops you need to move it to the desktop that you are going to switch to. E.g. Win-Tab, right-click Move and then Ctrl-Win-CursorRight
(assuming you want to go right, for example). Then whatever it is should be there waiting for you. In fact, (I just noticed), we have other options in that right-click menu; e.g. we can make sure that the window shows on
all desktops, which could let you implement what you are looking for, how ever you switch desktops while looking at that other monitor. Thanks for making me see this!
