Listen to external device music through earbuds?

seems like an easy task but I'm missing something. I've read a tutorial on this site and can hear the music through my PC speakers but I can't hear through my earbuds. My setup is from the headset plug on my device (electronic piano) to the front mike input on my PC. I can hear the device sound fine through PC speakers but not from my earbuds (headset item in second image below). I tried setting to "line in" from back of PC. There I get low volume through PC speakers but still nothing from earbuds. The earbuds are properly paired and I can hear other stuff (e.g., YouTube) but nothing from my external device.

What am I missing?

Hi,

First, "line in" is the right input, regardless of level of volume. If volume is low try to increase it on piano.
Mic-in input is very sensitive so, a distortion might be caused.

To bring the sound on your earbuds, go to Recording tab => "Line in" (or "FrontMic") Properties / Listen tab, check Listen to this device checkbox and then select t from below drop-down menu :




Also, check the input level (default is full/100) on Levels tab.

That means, you have to use Mic-in input which is more sensitive (louder) but it's not recommended.

There is a third party solution which I've tested and works fine.
It can increase main PC output (speakers) up to 400%.

It's called DeskFX, it's free, small, has some effects, one of t is "Amplify" and I think it does the job.



NOTE: To avoid speakers destruction, be very careful when you use it listening to other sources!
