Windows 10: Problems with detecting a microphone on my laptop.

So for more than 3 years, I've been using an Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-53). More the majority of this time, I've been using cheap earbuds or BlueTooth speakers for audio, and the mic that is inside the laptop for talking with friends.

Recently, I noticed the mic on my laptop had been acting weird while on Discord. It was glitching, cutting out, being super quiet, and sounding terrible. When this happened, I decided it was time to buy a headset. I bought the BENGOO G9000 because it was cheap, and I didn't have a fairly high budget.

After I bought this, I started using it with my friends on Discord and started noticing the same problems. After some testing with OBS, I learned that my laptop wasn't detecting the microphone while it was plugged in. I checked the microphone inputs in settings for Discord, OBS Studio, and Windows Settings, and the only audio options were "Default" and "Realtek High Definition Audio".

I looked over the recent Amazon review and saw that no one else had the same problem. I thought there might be something wrong with my model, so I refunded it and bought an unnamed gaming headset made by "Onikuma".

After trying to work with it for a couple of days, Windows still wasn't detecting the microphone.I was wondering if anyone else on this sub has had this same problem, or if anyone knew how to fix it.

Microphone not detected

I've run it, it says the problem was 'Generic audio driver'. But I don't actually feel any problems on playing audios. My problem was about external microphones not detected, this laptop wont detect any external microphones
plugged in, it will always use the internal microphone. I've done the troubleshoot (recording audio) and the troubleshoot said they can't detect the problem.

 

Headphones microphone not detected

Hi guys, my microphone worked well till someone changed some settings on my laptop and now idk how to change it back. I can hear in my headphones but the microphone is not detect. Only the laptop microphone works.... I have Steelseries arctis 3
