  1. NTFS Formatted Flash Drives Freezes Computer

This has been my problem ever since 2010, always the same problem freezing the computer every time I plug a NTFS formatted flash drive into different windows systems 7 8 and 10, 6 different brands of NTFS formatted flash drives, 1 usb 2.0 sandisk, 2 usb 2.0 kingston, 2 usb 3.0 sandisk and 1 usb 3.0 samsung flash drives . I have tried and always the same problem with 100% disk usage with the processes MTF Master File Table, NTFS File Log and every other process with NTFS names on it and I have to wait up to 5 mins or more for the processes to stop. I even tried some windows debloating program on a stripped unactivated windows 10 operating system just to see if the problem still persists and it still is. I'm starting to think Mac and Linux, even Android are more reliable than Windows 10 because they haven't caused the same issues.

    :)

How To Format A Write Protected Flash Memory ?

    ¿You already tried this one?...

    Run CMD

    1. diskpart
    2. list disk

Then in the 3º step, put the correct number of disk in the list for the usb flash (if it's listed in disk 3, then you'll have to write select disk 3).

    2. select disk #
    3. clean
    4. create partition primary
    5. select partition 1
    6. active
    7. format fs=fat32
    8. assign
    9. exit

with that commands you will format the flash drive in fat32, if you have a large drive you can select also "format fs=ntfs" in step 7.

    good luck!

  3. How to run CHKDSK on a flash drive formatted to NTFS ?

    Hi,

I formatted 2 flash drives to NTFS file system using windows explorer , then i tried to run CHKDSK for each one of them,

with the command CHKDSK e: /F

    I got this message:

Le type du système de fichiers est NTFS.

An unspecified error occurred (766f6c756d652e63 3f1).

the strange thing is after formatting both flash drives to FAT32 , CHKDSK runs normally and shows that both drives have no errors.

Then after formatting again to NTFS the story repeats itself.

By the way i'm using Windows 7 SP1 32 bit.

can you please tell me how to fix this problem with NTFS ?

    Formatting Flash Drive

    Hi,

A flash drive or any storage device is required to be formatted in order for Windows to recognize it. In line with your query, the performance of your flash drive will depend on how you manage and use it. Here are some important factors when formatting
    a flash drive.

When you choose to run a Full Format on a flash drive, files are removed from the volume that you are formatting and the flash drive is scanned for bad sectors. The scan for bad sectors is responsible for the majority
of the time that it takes to format the device.

When you choose to run a Quick Format on a flash drive, format removes files from the partition, but does not scan the device for bad sectors. Only use this option if your flash drive has been previously formatted
and you are sure that your flash drive is not damaged.

In addition, it is important to take note when formatting a flash drive as
NTFS. It will make it un-writeable on a Mac computer. Most Mac computer can read
NTFS, but not write. NTFS is a journaled file system, this creates more read/write activities. Therefore, it may decrease
life expectancy of your flash drive. Once the device is formatted as
NTFS, you must use “Safely Remove
    Hardware” to remove your device.

Let us know if you need further assistance.
