Windows 10: Upgrade Windows 10 Home to Windows 10 Pro possible using product key?

So we bought a Lenovo laptop for business use with Windows 10 Home, with the intention of immediately upgrade it to Pro. I have done this in the past on a Surface Pro, with no issues. This time it will not accept the new product key I just scraped clear on the previously unopened Win Pro 10 64Bit Norwegian 1pk DSP OEI DVD Version 1903 we bought for full retail price.


When I use the Update product feature in Windows 10 it claims the key i enter is "not working" error 0xc004f050 and i re typed and checked it like 10 times now.


The OS is on a DVD, so running that is not an option. The key is for 1903 version and the laptop was 20FT or something weird so i did two fresh installs. One using the Windows Media creation tool, and once from a 1903 ISO. But Windows install picks up the Windows 10 Home license key from the laptop MB. So I'm never prompted to enter the new key, and when I get into Windows the problem repeats it self..


Any advice here?

Thanks but I don't want to do any decrypting. I want to download a Win 10 ISO from Microsoft and install it using my Win 8 key. No other steps required. Is that possible?

I confirm.
Did several clean installs on laptops at work not too long ago. All had a regular consumer win7 Pro key (non-CSM). Never-ever used for upgrading or previous clean installations of Windows 10.
Installed W10 Pro 1709. Every single key was accepted activated right away.

I think the only thing that's not available now is a Windows 10 Upgrade assistant (or whatever it's called).

Now that I have finally upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10 will my Windows 8 key work with a fresh install of Windows 10?
