    I bought a new computer and hooked it up in a different physical location.
    It came with a pre-installed Windows 10 Pro (German) installation on a 480 GB SSD and a 1 TB HDD.This computer is to work as a clone (including the same email) at the other location. The new system had an Admin ID: CUSTOMER on it. After transferring their default location from Windows on the SSD to the HDD which is to serve as the main storage and data, I renamed this in GP Edit under Users. I also had the old HDD from the other system on an external drive and copied the various folders as default locations on the HDD.
    I own a Microsoft-365 Family (originally Office 365) subscription and installed the latest MS Office package. But there were a couple of serious problems that needed to be addressed.
    Outlook created 2 email accounts as I connected it to the "Outlook back-up" in the Documents Folder. The user account it connected to, was a new account "CUSTOMER" (I thought I had already changed this!). Again I tried to isolate that "CUSTOMER" account and replaced it with the actual account name that is also on the original system. I also copied the Outlook Backup folder from Customer/Documents as the source for Outlook. As it downloaded all the emails, folders etc. came abreast with Outlook in the original system.
    Not wanting to have this CUSTOMER a/c lingering around I simply deleted it, but without copying data from the customer account to the new locations belonging to the new user account! And that was a bloomer! All content of all the folders that I had transferred was gone!
    So, never mind (I thought) I inserted the old HDD in an external drive and tried to copy data once again. But I just couldn't open the folders in the original HDD anymore. The names were changed to some code numbers.As I tried this HDD in the original system it shows the original names, but does not open them to show the sub folders or files but flags a message "You do not have the necessary permissions/credentials etc. to open these".
    Would you please be kind and give me some tips to fix this. The new system's working fine, but without any data from the original.

  2. Trouble with user account

    Let’s try simple steps and check if helps in resolving the issue. Follow the below information provided.

    I would recommend you to create a new user account and try deleting the email admin user account. Follow the below link how to Create a user account. (Steps applicable for Windows 10).

    Create a user account in Windows

    Once you are done creating new user account give administrator permission for new user account from your

    admin account.


    • Type control panel on the Windows search bar and select
      Control Panel.

    • Click on User account and under
      User account
      click on Change account type.

    • Click on the new user account created and click on
      Change the account type
      .

    • Select Administrator and click on
      Change account type
      .
    Now let’s try deleting the email admin user account.


    • Login using the new created admin user account and press
      Windows key + R.

    • Now type netplwiz on the box and hit
      enter
      .

    • Select the user account you want to delete (email admin user account) and click on
      Remove.

    I suggest you backup your personalized files first before removing the account.
    To delete an account, follow these steps:
    1. Press WIN + X keys and click Command Prompt (Admin) from the menu.
    2. Type the following command and press Enter. Replace test with the name of your sister's account. Code:

    The customer:

    "It is overbearing for Microsoft to require children to either have an e-mail or phone number"

    The (unhelpful technician):

    "I suggest you to follow the steps how to create the child account as below and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows key and select settings.
    • Click on Account and select Family and other users.
    • Then click add someone else to this pc and select add child’s account
    • Enter the child’s email address and click on Next."

    This is becoming such a trend. Please read the details that someone has gone to the trouble of providing so that you can respond HELPFULLY.
