Windows 10: Using the ALT + ~ shortcut on a German keyboard to switch Japanese IME input

Hi, I'm using the Japanese IME input on a German keyboard, which so far works fine, but I'd like to use the shortcut to switch between Japanese and German input. I'm not talking about switching Input completely, which is done by pressing WIN+Space, only between A and あ when the Japanese keyboard is active.

From what I found out, the according shortcut is ALT+~ unfortunately, on a German keyboard the ~ is not on a regular key, but requires AltGr to be pressed, so the ALT-~ shortcut does not work. Any ideas how to achieve this on a German keyboard?

Keyboard shortcuts changed in Japanese Microsoft IME in Windows 10 ver. 2004?

I'm a German, learning Japanese as a hobby, and until recently, I could write Japanese text via the Windows 10 Microsoft Japanese IME, switching between Hiragana and Katakana with the keyboard shortcuts "CTRL+CAPSLOCK" or "ALT+CAPSLOCK" respectively.

In the May 2020 upgrade to Windows 10 Ver. 2004 it seems the IME has been renovated, and the keyboard shortcuts I learned don't work.

I also can't find in the documentation how to easily switch between Hiragana and Katakana input anymore. And the help page for the Japanese IME (日本語 IME)
is yet beyond my Japanese abilities. And after using the translation feature in Edge, I can't really find any mention of keyboard shortcuts.

The modern settings for the IME mention a "Muhenkan" key to switch between Hiragana/Katakana. But since I use a German keyboard, I probably don't have such a special key.

So, has the keyboard shortcut for CTRL/ALT+CAPSLOCK been completely removed, or is there a new keyboard combination to switch between Hiragana and Katakana?

It's really bothersome to use the mouse to switch between the two character alphabets.

Hello bro, I was also searching for infos on the new Jap IME shortcuts especially the CTRL + CAPS_LOCK. I looked at the "Key & Touch Customization" and I found out that the 3rd option on key assignment "CTRL + SPACE" works as switching to HIRAGANA/ROMAJI if
you choose "IME-on/off". "SHIFT + SPACE" also needs to be addressed more by microsoft. Who even use the "Alt Width Space"? I only use "F7" to turn the undone hiragana word to katakana. But if you need a smaller katakana, just use the "SPACE" for a list of
conversions.

I had same problems and found out how to solve it there! i have to thank you acctually so...

All you need is:

Select field that can be input (i.e: like address bar, new word document...) and then use Alt+[~] then it will change from [A] to [あ].
