Windows 10: Microsoft 365 Outlook/Word features not working. Problem with profile?

I'm running Windows 10 and Office 365. Some odd behavior from Word and Outlook:

Unable to set a default font

Unable to save a signature

Grammarly add-in fails

Outlook/Word mail-merge doesn't work

These problems are all solved if I create a new account. However, these are the ONLY problems I'm having with my original account and I'm very reluctant to switch accounts for what appears to be a Microsoft 365-only problem. Is there any way to clean pieces of the registry that might be causing my problems without switching everything over to a new account?

Disable new search bar in Outlook 365

OK. There is a way to disable this new search box in Microsoft Office 365. For Outlook:

Open Outlook 365.

On the lower left-hand corner click options.

In the User Interface options under the General Tab, click the checkbox Collapse the Microsoft Search box by default.

Click OK.

The search box will now disappear. However, disabling this option would only work on that application. If you open Microsoft Word or PowerPoint, you will need to do these same steps to disable the search box (if present) as well. Let me know if this works for you.

New Rewrite feature in Microsoft Word for Office 365

Hello, my name is Zhang and I am a Program Manager on the Office Natural Language Experiences team. I would like to share a new feature called Rewrite in Word.

Ever found yourself repeating phrases or looking for better expressions when writing in Word? Check out Rewrite in Word to quickly find alternative expressions for phrases in your writing.

How it works

Select and right-click a short phrase that you want to change, and click Rewrite (Preview).

The Rewrite pane will open on the right side of your document, and will include both the original sentence (on the top) and the rewrite suggestion (on the bottom).

When you hover over the suggestion, you will also see a live preview (yellow highlight) in your document to help you evaluate the suggestion in the context of the original sentence. If you like one of the suggestions, you can simply click on it to change your sentence accordingly.

To make the feature more accessible, you can find Read Aloud features in the drop-down menu on the right side of each suggestion.

And if you think a certain suggestion is inappropriate, you can always report it back to us for review, via Report this suggestion in same drop-down menu.

Requirements

The feature is available for 50% of users running Insider builds on Windows, starting from build 1908 (11901.20018). If you do not see it yet, don’t worry, you’ll get access to it soon!

Requires an Office 365 subscription.

This feature only supports English for now.
