    Hello,

This is cross posted to this sub because all the issues seem to be related to Windows 10 or software / drivers, and not the hardware itself. I added other details for those who are more well-versed with PC parts but if this is common on Windows 10 systems as well I would love to know how to fix.

I'm a novice PC builder (this is my first build) and I am running into a LOT of issues so far in terms of it actually running properly. As far as I know none of the parts are defective but I have been trying to figure out and troubleshoot these problems/ where they are coming from to no avail. I did not see any guides or anything telling me to do these things prior to building the PC so I'm pretty stressed that something is defective. Here are the issues I'm having:

    • PC not sleeping / shutting down / restarting correctly via Windows 10: this happens whenever any processes are running. I can't use the start menu to restart / shut down / sleep. I can use the power button but I heard this isn't advised to do all the time.

    • PC not sleeping after idle in general, even when settings are set to after 30 minutes

    • PC fully crashes if it is "overwhelmed" i.e. downloading games on Steam , Battle. net. Can't even access task manager. Happened more than a few times.

I don't know what the issue is as I have done a few troubleshooting steps such as:

-installing X570 Chipset Driver from ASUS

-installing graphics card driver from Nvidia

-installed appropriate audio drivers and network drivers from ASUS

    -installed all recommended Windows updates

-changed RAM speed in BIOS to the XMP (or AMD version of XMP) ones recommended for RAM

    My specs are as follows:

    -Ryzen 7 5800X

-ASUS ROG Strix X570-E (updated BIOS by ME)

    -GIGABYTE VISION OC 3080

    -Corsair Vengeance 3200 CL16 RAM, 2x8GB

    -Corsair RMx 850W PSU

I'm also using an AiO cooler (Corsair if it matters) and approx. 5 fans.

CPU temps seem fine, but another issue is it seems to be running at a constant 4800 MHz where it's advertised to be 3800 base. I did not tamper with any OC settings. Aside from this (which I don't know if it is normal or not), all the issues are related to Windows 10. Games seem to run fine.

The only BIOS settings I changed were related to RAM and whether RGB lighting stayed on.

My PC is currently crashed, mouse icon with loading symbol next to it but nothing is responsive. Should I suspect a hardware defect or is this software issues? Any help would be appreciated.

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

Installing Windows 10 on New PC?

I'm going to be building a new PC on Christmas and want to install Windows 10 on it. I have Windows 10 on my current PC, which I installed upgrading from 8.1 with the files on a USB. How do I go about installing a clean copy of Windows 10 on this new PC? I think I recall something about installing it once makes Microsoft recognize your hardware, but since this will be a PC I'm not sure what steps I need to take. Do I need to go 8.1 -> 10 or is there a method of going directly to 10?
