    Computer acting up and errors

Hello, I'd like to ask for help or advice because I'm getting clueless.

    PROBLEM

Lots of errors in the Event Viewer - Application error ID 1000, Application Hang ID 1002, Application Error ID 1005, Service Control Manager ID 7023 and 7031, lots of DistributedCOM 10001 84x in the last 24 hours

Sometimes my computer loads poorly, sometimes my Start bar is inacessible for a while or until I restart bar is empty, loading wheel when hover over, once I got explorer.exe unknown hard error on startup, once software had missing icon I had to reapply, one software removed itself or I don't know what happened.

SOURCEI'm not really sure, but it began when I did something in regedit, I shouldn't have, but I thought doing a .reg backup will prevent damage, however the backup was inacessible and I couldn't load it.

What I did was granting full permission to moderators in all regedit main HKEY folders, but after computer restart, I ironically had no permission and couldn't open anything. Had to do a full factory reset with reformatting, which fixed the problem, but the issues I described above persist.

    TROUBLESHOOTING

    • I've checked my SSD and the Kingston software says the disk is perfectly healthy
    • I've did SFC and DISM in the CMD also in safe mode
    • Looked for errors in the SSD through Windows tool
    • Cleaned the SSD through the Windows tool
    • Downloaded all or at least I think drivers.
    • Another factory reset, but this time with Windows Cloud download
    • Updated everything via Windows Update

Basically the computer seems to be perfectly fine, even CCleaner found no registry errors scanned, not used it. But the problems above are persisting. I'd be really grateful for any help.

    :)

  2. ACT Pro 2013 will not open in Windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

The most likely causes on a standalone are a damaged or invalid .pad file or SQL is not running, or is damaged.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue persists.

      • Click your Windows Start button, choose Run and type in actdiag.

      • When ACT! Diagnostics comes up, click Databases, the Database List.

      • Locate your database in the list, right-click on it and select Detach. Make sure you know the filepath to your database before detaching it.

      • When the database has been detached, open My Computer (or Windows Explorer) and browse to the location of your database.

      • Locate the .PAD file for your database [database name].pad and delete it.

      • Reopen ACT!...you will get a message that the last database opened cannot found, then will be taken to the Open Database dialog box.

      • At the bottom of this box, change the Files of Type to .adf, browse to the location of your database and double-click on the .adf file for your database.

      • You will get a message that ACT! will verify your database, click OK and ACT will reattach your database to SQL and create a new .pad file.

      • Hope this helps.

Error: No work available to process

Hmm. Either it's put out errors and WCG is limiting the work units available, or the project list may not be set to supply other WU when one runs out. (if the problem lies here and not on your end)

On the options to your left, if you go into Results Status, select the computer from Device Name and then look through results see if either they were returned late, errors or any other kind of issue that would stop the servers supplying WU from that perspective.

If there are no errors then it's maybe down to your project list. So selecting Device Manager from the left menu and then clicking on the profile assigned to that computer and make sure that it's assigned to receive WU for other projects if they run out.

At least those steps will rule out problems from the WCG end.

Computer randomly has black screen and restarts

Taco this could be software also. Before you get all crazy, do as Erocker suggested. Find out the error in the Event Viewer. Look for the faulting module and the error code itself. Also check the reliability monitor. At the bottom it will have "View all Error Reports". Post a screen of whats in there if anything.

This could be a simple as a bad driver install.

ALSO have you downloaded or installed anything lately? STAY OUT OF THE DAMN BIOS UNTIL WE KNOW THE ERROR! lol. I know you. Baby steps boy, baby steps.
