    Loud buzzing noise through microphone

Whenever I have my microphone plugged in, it makes this noise:
    Vocaroo | Online voice recorder

While it is possible to hear my voice if I talk, it's almost impossible due to the noise.
It's not my headset that's the problem (I've tried it on other devices with no issues), but it's an attitude one Tunguska 2.0.
The microphone still somehow picks up some noise even when it's unplugged.
The noise sounds like whenever you give a speaker power and then touch the jackstick(?), so I'm guessing it's a faulty soundcard somehow, but I may be wrong. I also have to re-plug my headset on every startup. I'm using the free version of Driver Booster by IObit, so it shouldn't be due to an outdated driver.

Thanks for any help in advance, just ask if there's any information you need.

    EDIT

If I unplug the microphone jack and go into controlpanel>sound and open the properties of the microphone and turn on the "listen to this device" it still makes noise. It also doesn't disappear from the list of recording devices whenever I unplug it. It's a relatively recent problem, it just sort of happened. I'll try to find another microphone to test with.

    EDIT

Well, while I don't have another microphone with a jack to test with, I did plug a ruined USB headset in, and there were no problems with the mic. It doesn't matter whether I plug my microphone in from the front or the back, as long as it's a jack it'll make noise. It also seems like the buzzing is something it lays on top/beneath any other mic input since my mic does pick up my voice, though it's very difficult to make out.

    EDIT

There are times where the microphone simply doesn't register in controlpanel>sound.

    EDIT

Well, I decided to open up my pc and see if I could figure something out, even with my meagre pc experience, and found that I don't have a sound card, but instead just the motherboard. My motherboard is a good, like, 5-6 years at this point, so I'll just be getting a new pc, since majority of my parts are just as old. Thanks for the help, I'm guessing it's the motherboard being faulty do to use.

  3. Buzzing noise coming from Mic

Didn't know where to post and what topic to pick so I'm going to try here...

as the title suggests I have been hearing intermittent buzzing noises coming from my Microphone as well as people that I'm communicating with...they tell me the noise is unbearable. I can hear it faintly but the people on the other end that I'm talking
with in skype or what ever voip I'm using are saying it gets extremely loud. Note that it's not a static sound it is a buzzing sound as if someone is getting electrocuted

I have tried many things to fix or correct the problems doing the following

    -trying a different mic

-switching from usb to pins and vice versa

-trying different usb slots both front and back of case

    -reformatting computer

-checking to see if motherboard is properly secure and grounded to tower

-grounding the case using a copper wire

    -trying different outlets

    -adjusting sound settings

I would like to note that I also used my microphone on my laptop and the noise was happening ONLY in my room where the desktop computer is located....I was not hearing the noise coming from my laptop in other rooms. This suggests that there might be something
wrong with my room that's discharging some sort of EM field. If this is the case do I need an electrician to check my room?

Any advice or help on this matter would be greatly appreciated

    Microphone Buzzing

Hi Danout. I'm Greg, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Volunteer Guardian Moderator here to help you.

See fixes here for Microphone buzzing:

    https://www.techwalla.com/articles/why-is-my-mi...

    https://superuser.com/questions/1376102/loud-bu...

    https://www.xtremerain.com/fix-pc-microphone-bu...

    http://www.seobook.com/fix-humming-microphone-n...

I will give you all possible fixes to try in sequence. Even if you've already tried one I'd do it in this order as one step may affect the next.

Please run the Recording Sound troubleshooter at Start button > Settings>Update & Security>Troubleshoot.

    Try these fixes next:

    http://maxedtech.com/fix-microphone-not-working...

    https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/fix-microphone-pr...

Some report that what worked is turning off Fast Startup at Settings > System > Power & Sleep > Additional Power Settings > Choose what Power buttons do > Change Settings Currently Unavailable > uncheck the box for Fast Startup, Save Settings. Restart and then
disable Hibernate file to clear it, restart PC again and enable Hibernate again:

    https://www.groovypost.com/howto/enable-hiberna...

Right click the volume icon in System Tray at right end of task bar, open Recording Devices, see if the microphone is listed, set it as Default device.

Type Microphone in Start Search, open Set up Microphone, scroll down to Microphone and choose Get started to set it up.

Try rolling back the sound controller drivers in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start Menu. Choose Sound controller device, then Driver tab, then Roll back if available.

Update the Sound drivers from the PC's Support Downloads web page. While there make sure you also have the latest Chipset, Display, Network, USB and all other drivers, comparing with the version presently installed in Device Manager.

If no newer driver then uninstall the ones presently installed in Device Manager, reached by right clicking the Start Button. Restart PC to reinstall.

When did this behavior begin? If you have an idea you might be able to System Restore back to a point before it began:

    http://home.bt.com/tech-gadgets/computing/how-t...

It's possible this was caused by a Windows Update so if nothing above works, go to Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update, check the Installed Updates list for Updates that might have been just installed, try uninstalling them using the Uninstall button
present there. Then hide the Updates using the Hide Updates tool downloaded from here:

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

If this was caused by a Version update (which you can confirm at Settings > System > About) then for ten days you can roll back Version in Settings>Update & Security>Recovery and hide it until it matures using the Hide Updates Tool downloaded from here:

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/2/2/f2...

If there are other performance problems then go over this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account. Then continue
with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

Others are fixing USB mic and headset issues with Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account, because the account is corrupted and this is the only fix.

If nothing else helps then run a Repair Install by installing the Media Creation Tool and choosing from it to Upgrade Now. This solves many problems and will also bring it up to the latest version which you need anyway and by the most stable method.

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.
