  1. Windows Defender blocking port when trying to port-forward.

Im trying to port-forward but defender keeps blocking the port im using even though I set up both inbound and outbound rules for it for both TCP and UDP. When I use port checking sites like https://canyouseeme.org/ it cant connect when the defender is up and when I tried with the firewall down it can connect.

    Port is being blocked

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forums.

    • Are you aware of any changes that happened on the computer prior to this issue?

Upon researching, this seems like an issue due to the port scan. You may want to try the steps listed below and check if it works.

    • Login to your Netgear
      NX6200 Extender GUI
      .
    • Click on Advanced tab and choose
      WAN Setup
      .
    • Check the box for Disable Port Scan and DoS Protection.
    • Allow it to update and check if the port is still being blocked.

However, if the issue persists, I suggest you to post your query in the
TechNet Forums, where we have support professionals
equipped with knowledge on port forwarding.

    Regards,

  3. ISP Blocking Port Forwarding Conspiracy???

I've come across a few posts that suggest that some cannot open/forward ports from their modem. It's been suggested that it's a direct result of ISPs trying to crack down on torrenting. However, I am not sure how true this is. Is there a way to test this? Is there a way to see if a port is forward on your modem if it's open or not?

Windows Defender blocking port when trying to port-forward.

    Port Forwarding

Need to open up ports for an upcoming project (HTTPs, SSH, and RDP). I've added all these services in the "port forwarding" section of my network settings. However when scanning with netstat, I cannot find these ports enabled. Pinging directly with telnet I get a failed connection message.

My ISP (Cox) does not have these ports listed as blocked.

I have tried to connect via my laptop using RDP as a test, and as expected it says the server is unavailable. Is this a windows firewall issue maybe? I have checked the firewall logs for dropped connections in pfirewall but there is nothing there.
