  1. XBox Series X controller will not connect via USB - device not recognised

    Hi,

I bought a new Xbox series S/X controller and have connected it to my Windows 10 PC up to date running 20H2 and am having problems:

    • Connection via USB - I get the following error message, and cannot for the life of me find a driver download:

XBox Series X controller will not connect via USB - device not recognised ab7e7f55-5c52-404d-8e6d-bf46d2cae622?upload=true.png

I've installed the XBox accessories app and get the following error

XBox Series X controller will not connect via USB - device not recognised ccc21c57-6603-4326-a9fd-61b5aa328d84?upload=true.png

I've tried different ports on the computer and rebooting it with no luck. I have only one USB-c cable and no other USB-c accessories to test the cable with I bought the cable specially to use with the controller I also tried the same controller + cable on another PC with the same error.

    • bluetooth, will connect, but drops out regularly, making game play impossible. The advice is top update the firmware, but I cannot do that without the USB connection.

So help basically! This is very frustrating - any advice appreciated.

    :)

  2. Xbox series x/s controller connected to PC via Bluetooth but not working

The new Xbox series x/s controller is successfully connected to windows 10 PC via Bluetooth. the device is showing connected in Bluetooth settings but it is not being recognized in games. Also, it is not being recognized in the Xbox accessories app.

When connected via USB cable it is working and I was able to download the latest drivers and firmware from the Xbox accessories app.

    • I have made sure I have all the latest updates (Windows 10, Version20H2)
    • updated xbox controller firmware through usb connection (Firmware version 5.5.2641.0)
    • used Bluetooth troubleshooter
    • Disconnected, removed, re-paired, and restarted PC and Xbox controller multiple times.
    • tried updating drivers from device manager but the drivers were already up to date
    • I have Bluetooth keyboard and headphones that are connected to the same PC, they work flawlessly (made sure I had only 1 connection at a time)

Xbox Controller is not connecting to Wireless Adapter

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

I appreciate your time and patience to work on this issue. To have a better clarity on the issue please reply to the following questions:

    • Are you using an Xbox one controller?

If you are using an Xbox one controller, I suggest you to refer the steps in the article

How to connect an Xbox One Wireless Controller to a Windows PC
and see if that helps in resolving the issue.

I would also suggest you to uninstall all the hidden devices under USB hive and check if you are able to connect the wireless adapter. Please follow the steps mentioned below to uninstall the hidden drivers:

    1. Press and hold the Windows + X key on the keyboard.
    2. Select Device manager.
    3. Click View tab.
    4. Select Show hidden devices.
    5. Expand Universal Serial Bus and remove all the greyed out devices. To remove the greyed out devices, right click on the device and select
      uninstall.
    6. Restart your computer.

Please reply with the status of the issue, we will be glad to help you further.
