Windows 10: lifecam nx 3000 not working on windows 10

I got a lifecam nx3000 from work. I know it's a bit old but I figured it's better than nothing. I plugged it in and nothing happens. Device manager says unknown usb device descriptor request failed. On my other pc it works just fine without installing anything. I thought maybe something is wrong with my copy of windows like drivers weren't installed or something so I reinstall windows, everything up-to-date, no third party apps interfering and it still doesn't work. I tried every usb port there is on my motherboard IO and also from the case. Camera is enabled in the privacy settings and there is no actual drivers on the microsoft page for this webcam, only the lifecam software which will not run in compatibility modefor me at least, although I doubt I need to install it since I didn't install anything on my other computer.

LifeCam HD-3000 stopped working after Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Back in September 2015 I had a similar problem: Microsoft's LifeCam HD-3000 webcam stopped working when I 'upgraded' from Windows 7 to Win 10. However, a thread on Windows Ten Forums solved the problem. *Party

So I've been a happy camper for the last 17 month. That is until the Windows 10 Anniversary Update. At least I am pretty sure that's when the LifeCam stopped working. The cam itself does not seem to be the problem--the little blue light comes on when it is engaged, the LifeCam software boots up fine, but, unfortunately, this is what I see:





The webcam is appropriately connected to a USB 2.0 port and, according to Windows, it is functioning properly:





The webcam also does not work via the Windows 10 Camera app, and on a video chat site (black screen on both).

Lifecam Hd-3000 not working on 64 bit Windows 10 computer

You have to upgrade the camera. The 3000 model is obsolete. There are no windows 10 drivers for it. When windows 10 came out the LifeCam 3000 was listed as incompatible.

Similar problems here with my "LifeCam HD-3000" no longer working in W10.

I suggest that Microsoft change the marketing ...

"DeathCam HD-3000" seems more appropriate
