Windows 10: MS365 apps do not open when installed on Win 10 Home laptop

I use MS365 business standard on my HP Envy laptop with Windows 10 Home version 1909. It used to work fine as of a few weeks ago; now when I try to use my MS365 apps, they do not work.


Symptoms:

- Outlook opens, but will not allow me to log in to my exchange email by adding an account in the File menu. The "File" menu says "Upgrade in Progress" it never upgrades.

- Outlook will not start in safe mode

- Word will not start in normal mode; it will start in safe mode, but it will not open files from my OneDrive


I suspect there is some sort of authentication issue. My fresh re-install of Windows now requires me to set a PIN for login. My MS365 Business Standard administrator has confirmed that both multi-factor authentication and modern authentication are NOT set in the administrator preferences.


My current workaround is to use the Office apps that are pre-loaded when I reset the PC with Windows 10 Home when I log in with my *MS365 Family* subscription. The apps work fine this way. The problem is that this description does not have MS Project, which I have in my MS365 Business Standard subscription. If I try to install MS Project from Business Standard, I'm back to square 1 with the same problem as above. My workaround for that is to use MS Project on another laptop, which is running Windows 10 Home S. All the Business Standard apps work fine there.


Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong with my install of MS365 Business Standard with my Windows 10 Home laptop?

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)

 

Win 10 apps not opening


When trying to open the xbox app or the store app it just blinks on the screen then nothing. Any suggestions on how to fix this? Win 10 14372

I did that to no avail, then I ran WSReset.exe; now I'm good on all 3, Mail, Calendar and People! *Confused
Go figure!
