  1. Lost Microsoft Administrative user account and Windows Security alert

I did a complete fresh re-installation of Windows 10 on November 25, 2020, with three 3 accounts created: Standard Microsoft account and Windows account with a PIN as an option to log in to the device. Since then I have been updating my backed up apps and drivers on my devices. While updating SETTINGS, I noticed that I had in Windows Security, I found an alert and recommendation to take action on the "App and Browser Control" application that was caused by it's "Reputation-based protection" application.

While troubleshooting the Alert above, I noticed that Reputation-based protection is a core function in supporting the Microsoft Defender Antivirus program by protecting the device from malicious or potentially unwanted apps, files, and websites. The root cause of the alert is that the Responsible-based protection application stays in the OFF positional all the time. which should be in the ON position to provide the required application. I tried several times to turn it ON, it immediately goes to the Windows Security user account control UAC page which requires you have an admin user name and password for it to download the application fixes.

II did search for my Administrative user account that was obvious during the reinstallation of windows in the windows search box next to the MS logo taskbar arear, searched in Startup and Internet explorer, I could not find my admin account. I can't address the two questions without the admin user's permission. The affected device is an HP 15-f387wm notebook PC.

Additionally, I can't download any application in my current situation, even windows or any operating system without a UAC which means I have to access my admin user account. I will appreciate hearing from the Microsoft team, Windows Community, and HP product application team due to the high priority I have placed on the subject matter.

Weird account name and lost Administrator rights.

Well, I know what I would do.

Under Settings, Accounts, Family & other users, then under Other users, add someone else to this PC. Then click the link for "the person I want to add doesn't have an email address". Then click the link for "Add a user without a Microsoft account". Then enter a temporary user name like TempAdmin. When the account appears in the Other Users list, click on it. Click change account type. Make the temporary account an Administrator.

Log in as the temporary administrator account, and copy all the files you want to keep from both the Andrius folders under Users to the temporary account's folder. Then delete whatever Andrius users are listed under settings, accounts. Go back to the Users folders and delete any remaining Andrius folders in there. Reboot the computer, log in as the temporary administrator and recreate an Andrius account using the exact same steps you made the temporary account - you can convert it to a Microsoft account if you want later.

Then do the rest of the steps to copy all your files back and delete the temporary administrator account.

Strange Windows 10 User Account issue.

Unfortunately I had done those steps numerous reboots, it just, reappears for no good reason. The base account isn't even a Microsoft account, it's a local account.

I haven't quite tried the built in administrator account on W10, but so far in my experience on my own computer, the built in account seemed to have absolutely no more control than I did on my own.

It's just strange, I go in, it warns me twice about deleting the account, then it's gone. Reboot, and it's back?

EDIT: Just to specify, both command line and Netplwiz both say only HIS account exists on the computer, it doesn't list this rogue account. This is what I meant in my first post about the fact that even Windows doesn't seem to believe it exists, HALF the time. *Frown Lost Microsoft Administrative user account and Windows Security alert :(

Lost Microsoft Administrative user account and Windows Security alert

Should my Microsoft Account have administrator privileges?

I just finished reinstalling Windows 10 (Creator version) and decided to have the installation process create a Microsoft Account instead of bypassing that step like I have on other laptops in the past and creating a local account later. After the install I went to Accounts in the settings and saw that the Microsoft Account was listed as an Administrator. I always thought the main user should only have standard privs for security purposes. Thoughts? Should I create a new admin account and try and change the MSA to a standard account?
