Windows 10: Can't print to a Local Port since KB4586768, if I remove update, I can print again to my...

I have created a local port called c:\temp\text.txt. I set up my printer to use this port. If I print from a remote connection to this printer, the print job errors out. This happened 1 minute after I put on update KB4586768. I removed the update and now I can print to my printer that uses a local port again. We are using a software called REFORM that collects print jobs by scanning the folder and now we can't send print jobs to the folder anymore by way of a Local Port. The users are remote users connecting to the server via a Telnet session and sending print jobs to the printer. Can this update please be fixed?

Windows 10 Home Won't Print to Remote Printer


I have three computers.
Machine 1: Windows 10 pro, has the USB Brother HL-5040 printer
Machine 2: Windows 10 pro, prints OK to the remote printer.
Machine 3: Windows 10 home, Used to print, but not anymore (THIS IS THE PROBLEM).
I’ve tried everything that I can think of, and would appreciate any suggestions.
I did these steps on Machine 3 that did not work.

1. Remove the printer device.
2. Add a Printer
3. The printer that I want isn’t listed
4. Select a shared printer by name
5. Browse
6. Select the displayed Machine 1.
7. Select the displayed Printer.
8. Next
9. Failure “Connect to Printer”.
10. Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or Hostname
11. Next
12. Set Hostname to Machine 2, and set port name.
13. Detecting TCP/IP Port
14. Additional Port information required.
15. Device Type – Standard, Brother Port Server
16. Next
17. Detecting the Driver Model
18. Install The Print Driver
19. Select Brother and Brother HL-5040
20. Next
21. Replace the Current Driver
22. Printer Name (setting it to HL-5040)
23. Next
24. Do not share this printer
25. Next
26. You’ve successfully added “HL-5040”
27. Finish

Printing on Machine 3 puts the document in the print queue, which reports error printing.
Printing from Machine 2 to the printer on Machine 1 works perfectly.
All three machines are in the same HomeGroup. Machine 3 can access the shared files from Machine 1.

Method 2: Uninstall unnecessary printers

Having two or more printers installed can cause issues with the Print Spooler and printing. Follow the steps below to uninstall any unnecessary printers:

• Press Windows Key + X and select Control Panel from the list.
• When Control Panel opens, locate Devices and Printers.
• In Devices and Printers section select the printer you want to remove and click Print server properties.
• Go to Drivers tab. You should see the list of all installed printers.
• Select the printer you want to remove and click the Remove button.
• Select Remove driver and driver package and click OK to completely remove the printer.
• After removing unnecessary printers, restart your PC.

Windows 10 and parallel port (LPT) printer doesn't print

Just to update you all, I Shut down and rebooted a couple of times

and my ports are still working,

I opened the Device Manager (From Control Panel) and I was not

able to find the LPT Ports listed. but I noticed they have Print queues listed

I guess that the LPT Ports has been renamed, I was able to see my printers

listed there and you will be able to Right Click on your printer and Select "Properties"

and you will see the details of your printer.

The printers are listed regardless of the PORT

The printer port seems to be a Print Que "Local Print Queue" also called "Root Print Que"
