Windows 10: BATTERY CALIBRATION OR DEFECTIVE BATTERY

I have a laptop that is 4 months now. when on battery it shuts down at 50% . switching it on the battery percentage is zero but you can still use the laptop for another 2 hours just like having 50% battery left but the indicator percentage is already zero.

Battery issue

You should try the full discharge and recharge as suggested and if that doesn't work, then re calibrate.

Do not leave it at 98%, otherwise you will damage the battery because you are overcharging.

If they are cheapo 3rd party Chinese batteries they're probably just garbage. They either both have the same manufacturing defect or they are out of spec with what the laptop is expecting. Did you run the battery calibration tool?

As for your concern, what battery calibration are you referring to?

It is normal for a battery to lose its original design capacity as time goes by with the charge and discharge cycle. Using any kind of software to do a battery calibration will not help you regain the lost battery capacity. However, you can run the built-in
power troubleshooter. To do this, follow the steps below:

• On the Start menu, type Troubleshooting.
  
• Click View all.
  
• Select Power and run the troubleshooter.
