USB drivers are “doubled” and keep trying to uninstall

Hoping someone can help. My computer keeps making the “USB device uninstalling” sound about every 10 seconds. I’ve turned off the actual sound that’s associated with the alert, but realize that’s like turning off the “check engine” light.... it didn’t actually fix the issue but at least the sound is gone.

When i go into the device manager under USB controllers I see Intel USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller and USB Root Hub. They both appear TWICE. If i delete the dupes, or just one of each, all 4 entries reappear when it refreshes, which is about every 10 seconds or so.

I have a wireless mouse USB nub and a hard wired USB printer. The issue of this “perpetual decice driver refresh” seems to happen whether i have them plugged in or not. Its like its trapped in an endless refresh loop. Any advice?

    :)

  2. How do you uninstall chipset drivers?

I'm installing a new mobo so I need to uninstall the intel 865g drivers to make way for the P35 drivers.

Can't find any uninstall options in add/remove programs and intel chipset inst listed in driver cleaner.

Any suggestions? *Confused USB drivers are “doubled” and keep trying to uninstall

  3. sandisk usb showing driver error

    Hi,

Using other USB ports on your computer usually resolve this kind of issues. If the issue still persists, let's try to uninstall the USB drivers to help resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Double-click Universal Serial Bus Controller.
    • Right-click the USB drivers, then click Properties.
    • Go to Driver tab.
    • Click Uninstall.
    • Reboot your computer.
    • Try to insert your USB to check if the issue will persist.
Keep us in the loop with the result.

USB Drivers not Recognized after Windows 10 Installation

    Hi Paul,

    Thank you for replying.

Sorry to know that you still face the issue.

I suggest you to follow the methods below and verify the result.

    Method 1: Update USB Controllers.

To update the USB Controllers from Device Manager follow these steps.

    1. Go to Device manager in control panel.

    2. Select Device manager and a Device Manager window will pop-up.

    3. Double Click on USB Controllers to expand.

    4. Right click on the USB Controllers that is listed and select Update.

Method 2: Uninstall and Reinstall the USB driver.

If it doesn’t work I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the USB driver and see if it helps:

    1. Right Click on Start, Select Device Manager.

    2. Find and double-click the category of device whose driver you wish to uninstall (for example, the graphics card would be listed under Display Adapters) here its USB.

    3. Right-click the device, and click Uninstall.

    4. Windows will prompt you to confirm the device’s removal. Click OK to remove the driver.

    5. After the uninstallation is complete, reboot your computer as soon as possible

    Method 3:

I also suggest you to update the Mother Board chipset drivers from the OEM website to check if that helps.

Review Windows Update. The Windows Update service is a key item to review. Windows Update may have updated drivers available that may be relevant to your current issue. Many times, updated drivers are listed in the "Optional" section of Windows Update.
Install any pending updates on the pc to check if that helps.

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.
