How to disable autocorrect in the Mail app?

    Hi

If you know the magic recipe, please share it and I will eternally thank you.

I have tried the very obvious: checking for a setting in the app. I found none. They are organized horribly, but still, no setting on this matter. I tried looking for one in the pseudo-ribbon that is shown when you type a mail. None in there, as well.

I have tried the obvious: Settings - Devices - Typing - Spelling - Autocorrect misspelled words - Off, and Settings - Devices - Typing - Hardware keyboard - Autocorrect misspelled words I type - Off. No dice, still autocorrects "on its own" (Source: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...ndows-10/69f4705f-cb8b-4a75-9d56-9733d8fc2dd2)

I have tried the not so obvious: Group Policy Editor - User Configuration - Administrative Templates - Control Panel - Regional and Language Options - Turn off autocorrect misspelled words. No dice. (Source: https://superuser.com/questions/102...dy-disabled-autocorrect-feature-in-windows-10)

I do not want to switch input languages. I write 90%+ of my emails and text in general in English and the rest in Romanian, which despite having 5 letters that are slight variations of their Latin counterparts (diacritics), you can write the words with the Latin character instead and use the US layout when typing in Romanian, which everyone already does and no one has real trouble reading or understanding it when it's written in this manner (in 50 years, I think diacritics will be dropped or become optional in writing in Romanian due to this; plus Romania is one of the few countries I know of that does not have a physical keyboard layout, or at least the shops here only sell US or UK variants, which is very good in my opinion). The only time I write correctly in Romanian is when I type official documents which happens very rarely, and only on those occasions I switch the layout. So, neither do I want to switch the layout every time I write one sentence in Mail, nor install some other keyboard mapping that is non-standard but mixes the Romanian layout with the US one. I know it is just Win+Space, I just don't want to do it.

I am so accustomed to the US layout and I can happily use that and have been doing so since I began using computers. It is only that 'progress' got us into the point that a fucking touch screen phone app that on top of everything is even built-in pisses on all your work and actively ruins your patience, concentration and time by working against you. How in the hell is Microsoft able to ship such an abomination? Why in the world is this OS so fucked up, I can't stand it anymore, all this bullshit with 'Windows 7' being out of support when one can install that and have a million times better experience than working with the suite of software this crap shot of an OS presents.

HOW IS SUCH A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE POSSIBLE IN 2020?

So, is there any solution? I won't comment on Feedback Hub or whatever their shitty forum might be, as they probably won't bother considering it's been 5 years since Windows 10 was released and we still have this.

I do not apologize for the cursing and attitude I have at Microsoft, it reflects my opinion, I stand by it and I apologize only if I broke the rules of this sub, in which case I am ready to support the consequences, ban me or delete this post or whatever, although yeah, I still want to know whether any magical solution exists.

    Thank you.

  2. How disable autocorrect/spell check in Windows 10 Mail app?

We are August 2019 now and toggling autocorrect off in the language settings on the main page, didn't stop the issue. Typing the Dutch phrase "Iemand
heeft een probleem" would still be autocorrected to "Iemand
    heft een problem".

As many confirmed, toggling off autocorrect misspelled words in settings > language > Spelling, typing and keyboard, does not cut it.

On the bottom of the page with these settings, you should find a section "More keyboard settings" and a topic "Suggestions and autocorrections"

Once I toggled off the autocorrections there as well, the issue in the windows 10 mail app stopped occuring (I closed and re-opened the mail app once, before testing, but not sure this is required).

I didn't spend time backtracing my steps and trying to confirm whether this in fact was the solution, but possibly this helps others, who are as frustrated as I was with this issue.

Disable autocorrect in Windows 10 Mail app

I am aware that this thread (How disable autocorrect/spell check in Windows 10 Mail app?) has the exact same question. But as many people have noted
in it, the proposed solution does not work. Mail still autocorrects while I'm typing. So I thought I'd ask again, just in case.

How can I make it so that Mail stops autocorrecting?

How to disable autocorrect in the Mail app?

Mail app will not open on 10041.

    Hello Adam,

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it. How to disable autocorrect in the Mail app? :)

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

    • Open powershell as administrator
    • Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
    • Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
