Too many NTUSER.DAT {xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx} files. What to do?

As the title says, in my USER\myusername folder these NTUSER.DAT {xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx} files are getting out of hand.

About 3 months ago, I tried eliminating the majority of the older ones. The ones that HADN'T yet been written in to the plain NTUSER.DAT file.

For some reason, this caused a massive boot delay when I got to the lock screen.
Maybe 4-5 more reboots would have cleared that up, I don't know.

Anyway, I'm looking for a solution to eliminating most of them, without causing boot delay issues.
They aren't very large files, but they LOOK messy.

So I'm looking for ideas, suggestions, etc. I have a recent backup ofc.
Someone on here must have some expert knowledge on this.

Another acceptable solution would be to put a folder around them... if that's possible.
I just don't want to SEE them all the time.

    :)

  2. Microsoft Solitaire Collection not working even after resetting Windows.

    Hi,

As well as the 3 ntuser files listed, there are 5 ntuser.dat(*****).regtrans-ms files and 2 ntuser, dat(*****).blf files.

Do I copy those as well or unselect them like the 3 you listed?

need some help opening a .dat file.....

I don't know if will help, but I noticed in a thread someone (@chefsuccess.com) mentioned, that, you need to use the restore to import the file.

I don't use the software, so, I have no idea on the steps/procedure.

    Associate .dat files to NotePad

    Hi Rick

Right click a dat file, choose 'Open With' - Choose Another App

Important - Check the box marked 'Always use this app to open dat . . .'

If Notepad is not in the list, scroll to the bottom and click 'More Apps'

Again if Notepad is not in the list, at the bottom, click 'Look for another app on this PC', then navigate to find the Notepad application in C:\Windows\System32
